Surnames: McCarn, Elam, Harding, Hinkle, Carruth, Herold
I would like to find some information about Ida McCarn, my grandmother(Virginia) always said Ida's mother was a full blooded Indian, I have a picture of her she's sitting in a chair outside, smoking a pipe, she looks like an Indian to me- or maybe it's just because grandmother always said she was an Indian, I don't know. I also have pictures of the family when the children where little, it is 1910 because my grandmother(the last child born) is a baby in Ida's lap.Ida's maiden name was Elam. I can't find anything on her or her parents.
As far as Noah and Ida's children go, I'll tell you all I know~~ Noah never married and lived in the family house until he went in a nursing home and died in 1997. Dorothy married Bud Hinkle, lived in Marianna and had two children Mary-Jo and Charles. Mary-Jo Carruth had two children Ben and Bev Carruth, I don't know where Bev lives, I haven't seen her since 1994, I just know she's in Arkansas. Ben Carruth is supposed to be a lawyer in Little Rock. Charles Hinkle had one daughter named Susan, she had a couple of sons that would be grown now. Mary-Jo and Charles have both died in the past few years.
Virginia(Virgie) in 1932 left Mountain View to visit Dorothy in Marianna, and while there met my grandfather Robert Harding. They got married and lived in Marianna for a few years, then moved to Tennessee. They lived in Brighton and Attoka before coming to Memphis. Along the way they had two children, first Jane, who grew up,married and had a son John Herold(he has a teenage son and daughter)
Jane Herold still lives in Memphis.
Then their son James Harding was born.He grew up and married and had me(Tara).James Harding lives in Millington, TN.I live in Bartlett,TN. I am married with three grown sons.
I can only remember seeing Nellie and Noah when I was a little girl, but don't know much about them. I don't know any thing about Agnes or Floyd, I think they were so much older than grandmother that she wasn't very close to them.
Well I feel like I've written a book tonight. Maybe this will answer some of your questions.
