Does anyone have information on the Shelton family who lived in Clay County, Miss and moved to St. Francis, AR. I am researching my grandfather's family and I believe they are related to these Sheltons but I have yet to make the definite connection. Here is what I know:

My great grandmother's name was Mattie Shelton born 1880 or 1887(MISS)(I don't know if that was her maiden or married name). She had sons: Willie born 1909 in West Point, MS and Earnest born 1912 in West Point, MS (Earnest was my grandfather). My grandmother says she had another son that was older than Willie and Earnest Shelton named Anderson Jennings, they called him "Buddy." I am not sure of his birthdate and I recently found out that they had a sister who died when she was five by falling from a horse.(I do not know her name). They moved to Arkansas sometime between 1912-1920. They all died there.

It seems they moved here around the same time that Charley Shelton and his family moved to Arkansas. I am estimating they moved sometime between 1916 and 1920 since Knowledge Shelton was born in Miss in 1916 but lived in AR by 1920.

On the 1920 census Mattie Shelton is listed married to a Isic(Isie) Woods and lived with Willie and Earnest in Crittenden Cty, AR. By 1930 she was back in St. Francis and listed as a widow and Earnest and Willie were still at home. But she had gone back to the name Shelton - she was no longer using Woods. This is also where Earnest met my grandmother. They later moved to Brinkley, AR, Monroe County and had seven children. Willie also move to Brinkley and Anderson Jennings lived nearby in Cotton Plant.
