Does anyone have any information on a Cidnia C. Storms that died in Seveir county on 4/18/1941? She was 75 years old. I believe she was a Miller from Grayson county, Kentucky. I've only found her in one census record in Kentucky (if it is the same person) and in this death record. She is mentioned in an old Bible record I have seen. I'm trying to find out whose daughter she was and if she had any descendants. In the census record, she was listed as a grandaughter. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Nathan Cox married Elizabeth Buchanan in 1843, Hempstead /Nevada County, Arkansas

In Feb 1843 in Hempstead County, Arkansas (in portion that later became Nevada County), NATHAN COX (born 1822 AR or MO) married ELIZABETH BUCHANAN (born 1822-1823 AR or MO). They appear in the 1860 census under Carouse/Redland township in Ouachita County AR (although this township was on the line where Ouachita and Hempstead counties joined and where Nevada was later formed).

They had 4 children (per 1850 & 1860 censuses):
1. Frances M. Cox, born 1843-1844 AR.
2. James A. (or H.) Cox , born 1845-1846 AR; he probably married Jane Gresham in 1890.
3. Mary L. Cox, born 1847-1848 AR; probably married M. B. Clark in 1870.
4. Andrew J. Cox, born 1856 AR.

Also in Nathan's household in 1850's census was his wife's mother and sister--Mary Buchanan (born 1793 NC) and Evaline Buchanan (born 1826).

Elizabeth appears to have died about 1880, and Nathan appears to have married again to Nancy Murphey, daughter of John and Mary Murphey in Sevier County AR. Nathan and Nancy supposedly went to Oklahoma's Indian Territory to live about 1890-1900. There was also a Nathaniel Cox earlier on the 1838 tax list in Sevier County AR, but it's unsure if they are connected.

It is a family tradition that this Nathan Cox is related to my Cox family that was from the same Nevada County AR area and timeframe---the John Cox (born 1787 VA), Abner Cox (born 1805 MO), and Abner's father William Cox. I'm trying to determine how Nathan is connected and more about him.
Thanks!

When my mother died in Broken Bow, OK in 1983, we found a large envelope that contained pictures that appear to be of the same family. No one in my family had ever seen the pictures before and we don't know why they were separated from the other pictures that she had. Since that time I have asked many, many relatives and friends to identify the picture without results. We had lots of Sevier County AR connections. I have posted some of the pictures on my web site at http://pages.suddenlink.net/aspen39/Mystery6.htm Please take a look at the pictures and if you have a clue as to who they might be, please let me know.
William Edmondson, born about 1815 in TN son of James, was in Sevier County AR by 1830 along with his family consisting of his father James, mother Elizabeth, brother John and sisters Nancy and Elizabeth. William married Barbara about 1833. The marriage records are missing for 1830-1833. Does anyone know of any records that might give me the maiden name of Barbara. Possibilities are Wyatt, Buchanan, Sloane, Burke and McCraven. William and Barbara are on the 1850 census but I have been unable to locate them after 1850.

I am not sure on the ages of these other children, so some of them may not be born by 1920. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

HI,
I have been trying to find information about Catharine Ann Hopkins Davis Gray. She married Levi Davis in Sevier County, AR in 1829. Would anyone have access to pictures of her or know how I would locate one? Also, if anyone knows of her son-inlaw , John Rose, who married her daughter, Betty , I would appreciate any information of him as well. Thank you, Freda

Tucker Family in early to mid 1800s in Arkansas?

I am looking for a John, Thomas or possibly Alfred TUCKER that might have been living in Arkansas before 1845. The Tucker I am looking for might have married an Elizabeth Badeau from LA or MS. At one time we thought we had them connected to Jane Humphry, but that is not correct.
John Jefferson Tucker was born in 1845 in McComb, MS, the son of the above query.J.J. Tucker married (in 1875) Anneta Whitcomb of Covington St. Tam., LA. JJ. and Anetta named one of their sons, Thomas Brinsfield Tucker. There might be a Brinsfield connection. We are having a devil of a time finding out about his parentage. Family lore is very confusing and contridictory!
HELP, HELP, HELP!
Thanks,
Jana Rooke
I'm posting this for a friend who does not type. She is looking for any records on Henry Morris who moved to Sevier County about 1815 - before it was a county. She went to the courthouse but was told there were no records that old.

Henry Morris was registerd in the Waverly Colony. He married a Majorie Perryman and their first child was born about 1819.

cemetery book

Could someone please check the Hays Cemetery book for the location in the cemetery or the plot number of the gravesite of Miller Horne. He died on 12 - 26 - 1930 and according to his death certificate he was buried in the Hay's Cemetery near Clarksville, Arkansas. The cemetery may be listed as the Hay's Chapel Cemetery as it is locatred next to the Hay's Chapel Church. I don't have an address for the cemetery just that it is just outside of Clarksville, Arkansas. I am trying to find where at in the cemetery his gravesite is located. I was down there a few years back and could find no marker so apparently he must be buried in one of the unmarked graves. please e-mail me direct at scorpio@cneconnect.com
Thanks in Advance, MEL

I now know Jack Beaty died about the 26 of August, 1910. The newspaper ( Garvin Graphic ) said his body was found Monday August 29 but he died about three or four days before this date. he was hung from a tree in Garvin Twp, McCurtain County,Oklahoma. The story we have is he was buried under this tree. The only other information I have is he may have been born in Missouri. My grandfather Jasper Beaty was told his fathers name was Jack Beaty it is possible Jack may have been a nickname or a middle name his name could have been Jackson or John. The Garvin Graphic newspaper listed his name as J Beaty can anyone place this person in their family tree. Any and all information greatly appreciated.

I have correspondence placing my grandfather, John Ancel Strickland, in Gillham and Cheatham of Sevier County Arkansas from 1917 until after WWI. I believe they may have been there in 1920 also. Mr. J. W. Morlan was the calligrapher of my grandfather's bible which was presented to him in 1917 while he was living in Gillham. Another letter shows J. A. Strickland living in Cheatham in Sept. 1918. I am interested to learn if John Ancel Strickland shows up in the 1920 Census of Sevier Co. and in land or tax records of that period. Any information on Mr. J. W. Morlan would also be appreciated.

John & Mary Murphy born 1799-1804 in SC, died 1875-76 in Sevier Co AR

My GGG-Grandparents John & Mary Murphy were born 1799-1804 in SC, married in 1820 and died 1875 & 1876 in Sevier Co AR. They had left South Carolina (probably northwestern part of SC) in the 1820s and their daughter (my GG-Grandmother) Melissa Permelia Cecille Murphy was born in Mississippi in 1828 and other siblings of hers may have been born in Louisiana. By 1850, they were in Ouachita / Hempstead County, Arkansas (later became Nevada County), where Melissa Permelia married James Cox. John & Mary Murphy later went on to live in Sevier County AR, but Melissa and most of her siblings did not.

Does anyone have more info about these Murphys in Sevier County, where they lived, where they were buried, who they were kin to there, etc.?? I do know there were other Murphys and also Mulkeys, Greers, etc. in Sevier's area who had also come from SC and were all kin. They were originally Baptist and may have become Disciples of Christ (Christain Church). Any info at all would be greatly appreciated!!

William and Mary Goss 1880 Sevier County Arkansas Census

Looking for any connections to the family of William and Mary Goss found on the 1880 Sevier County Census with 2 children
George H Goss born 1871 in Illinois
Quincy born 1875 in Illinois
William is listed as 51 years old and being born in Miss.
wife Mary 41 born in Illinois. George H Goss is my direct line.
Cant find any information on William and Mary. It is my belief that Mary was second wife for William as a William that fits this age can be found in Sevier County on the 1860 census.
Thank you
Teresa
