These are a few ideas I would try. Contact
Arkansas Vital
Records in Little Rock and see if they have a Death Certificate on him. Ft. Smith has some death records but only up to 1914, (if memory serves)after that time period they were sent to Little Rock. Also, look on the website for South
Sebastian Historical Society. They have a link there to the memorial dedicated to the men who served in the mines. Contact them and see if they have any info. Another idea is too see if you can get yur hands on a book called "Fire in the Hole", by
Alvarez. It is WONDERFUL! It is about the mine workers and thier lives. The man who wrote it was either the son of grandson of Dr. Alvarez who was a Doctor there to the mine's. In his book he talks about some of the mis-hapes and explosions in the mines with the death's listed in the back. That book is sold by the Historical Society for around 15.00 or a copy might be found at the local library, maybe even avalible for inter-library loan. That is just a few idea's to try to help. Good luck!
