Surnames: Delaney, Hill, Elliott, Dutton, Smith, Flankard
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the burial information on Frances Hill, her family and mother, L. J. Hill. It completes much on this family.
After the query was posted, I found the following and discovered that William F. Delancy was a Delaney [the census entries are so hard to read "c" and "e" in the last part of this surname. Perhaps this information will help others searching for the family.
I have been unable to document the exact relationship of the M. L. Duttons to Frances Hill Delaney, the widow.
Again, thank you for the most welcome information. BHR
William F. Delaney was born ca 1865 in Virginia of French Canadian parents, died April 1911 in Sebastian Co AR; bd Sebastian Co AR. An article in The Daily Oklahoman,[26 April 1911], a newspaper published in Oklahoma City, reported seven persons were injured at Hartford, Ark., on the afternoon of April 25, 1911 when the wagonette loaded with mourners attending the funeral of William Delaney, a prominent resident of Hartford, was hurled into a ditch. The injured included, Mrs. Elliott of Bokoshe, Okla, sister of Mrs. Delaney, arm broken; Mrs. Smith of Huntington, Ark., sisters of Mrs. Delaney, arm brokern; Mrs. M. L. Dutton of Hartford, back injured; Mrs. Jessie Flankard, daughter of Mrs. Dutton, ankle sprained; Mrs. Delaney, the widow, back injured; Mrs. Will Hill of Bokoshe, Okla, gash in forehead; M. L. Dutton of Hartford, back hurt. As the wagonette was descending a hill and crossing the railroad tracks, the double-tree broke, throwing the vehicle with terrific force into the ditch; the horses did not run away. The driver was unhurt.
