Thomas Jasper James' widow Sarah E. James applied for his Civil War Pension in 1907 in Jefferson Coo. He died 24 July 1904 and is buried in Ellington Cemetery, Magazine, AR. He served in the Albama Infantry Co H Regiment 16.

Thomas Jasper James was married first to Rebecca Rickard in Franklin Co, AL about 1862. They had 6 children: Nancy Jane, John Edward, Louella C., William Coy,Eva Nora and Thomas Samuel. Rebecca died 31 May 1884. Thomas married Sarah Ellen Townsend, widow of William H. Kimbrough sometime after 1884 in Franklin Co., AL.
