I have several Williams that lived at one point in Siloam. These would include John Thomas Williams and his children; Henry Lawrence, Alonzo Carl, Mary C (perhaps Cecilia), Fred and Lowell C. Also Robert Alonzo Williams and his kids; Osa, Oscar, Lewis, Lutie, John Thomas, Frank and Otto.

I am pretty sure that Frank and Otto went off to OK. I think most of the others stayed in Randolph County. Robert Alonzo died in Dalton, in 1908.

Looking for info on my GGgrandfather and family. William Henry LANE b.1858 was born in ILL. His father was from ILL. and mother was from Ark. This info comes from the 1900 census for Wayne Co,MO. Cowan Township.
On this census he is married to Elzora and they have two children, Minnie M. and William Washington both born in MO.
I just got William Henry LANE's death certificate and the info that given comes from his (2) wife Adella Rosa.
She has his father as John LANE and mother Elizabeth Perryjim. ????? For ILL. There is no marriage record for them. But for Randolph Co,Ark. there is a marriage for
John W. LANE married to Lucinda PARREGIN Oct 21,1856
So I'm hoping this is them.
I can't find a surname at all for Perryjim so I think it's the wrong surname and maybe even the fist name is wrong.
This mightbe a long shot but can't hurt to ask.
Info you are a LANE or PARREGIN lineage please let me know
if you have info on them at all.
Thank You,
Theresa

Actually, this is more about his mother and sisters than it is about him. It looks as though Elizabeth Hanners is his mother and that seems to be the same person that shows up in the 1860 census for Wayne County, MO. The problem is that Elizabeth along with her daughters Susannah and Charity are listed as part of the Abey family.

Susannah went on to marry a Blackwell - which one I do not know - and then Lewis Edward Williams. Charity went on the mary Redmon Rice.

If anyone if familiar with this family I would really appreciate hearing about them.

Thanks in advance.

I have a George Finley(1810) who was an abolitionist active in Northern Arkansas. He had two brothers (unnamed) who helped him on the Underground Railroad. Supposedly he was killed 1bout 1858-59 by bushwackers whose mission was to kill anyone who helped free Negros. George Washington was married to a woman named Rachel Moore, Hix, Hand. (she was widowed several times). They had one son from this union, George Washington Finley, born 1857 in Randolph County.

My hope is to find information on the George Finley born 1810. Any information would be wonderful. Any leads on where to look next would be appreciated as well!

John Frank Stevens-obit

As printed in the Deming Headlight-Deming,NM
02/07/2008

John Frank Stevens, 91, Deming resident, passed away Monday, February 4, 2008 at Sierra Health Care Center in Truth or Consequences.
A memorial service will be this morning, Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 10:30 at the Ninth Street Church of Christ with Jeff LupPlace officiating. Cremation will take place at Baca's Mimbres Crematory.

Born January 15, 1917 in Elevenpoint, Arkansas to David Crockett Stevens and Mary Emma Davis. He spent his childhood farming in Elevenpoint, with his mother and father "Crockett", his 6 sisters and one brother. From 1940 to 1941 he worked in the CCC, building concrete irrigation ditches in Ontario, Oregon. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 13, 1941 and served in Seward, Alaska guarding the coast line during WW II, protecting our US borders from Japanese invasion. During his years of military service he earned and was awarded the AP Service Ribbon, Bronze Service Star, American Defense and Service Ribbon, and the Bronze Star. His final year of service was spent as a platoon sergeant in an infantry replacement training center, where he maintained discipline and taught recruits the basic rules of soldiering and rifle marksmanship.

Before his discharge, he married a hometown girl named Edna Lucille Peterson, on April 13, 1944 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. His final day of military service was September 30, 1945 and he began his civilian life using skills he learned in the military and growing up on a farm.

He served as Post Master and ran a general store in Elevenpoint, Arkansas for 2 years. For a period of time he had many jobs in iron working and carpenter work, and even had a farm with dairy cattle and sold cream and milk products.

Then in January 1961, John Frank Stevens relocated to Deming, NM to begin his career as a general contractor putting his talents in carpentry to work to make a living. He began the "Stevens Woodcrafting" business in 1975 and specialized in custom kitchen cabinets. In 1976, he sold his business to his son Stanley Stevens and continued to work with his son until 1991.

At that time he went into semi-retirement but continued to do the thing he enjoyed most, wood crafting. He created and built custom furniture for friends and family members for many years. He enjoyed helping others by donating his time, money and talents to those in need. He spent the rest of his days at home with "the finest woman he ever met" his wife Lucille until he slipped away from us. Throughout his life he was known for his strength in body and character and did an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. He had a wonderful sense of humor, sharing stories from the good ole days that made us laugh till we cried, and a charming nature that won the hearts of children.

He was a member of the Ninth Street Church of Christ where some things made by him including the communion table are still used today.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lucille, sons, Stanley and his wife Chris, Dale and his wife Anna, all of Deming; grandchildren, Laura Garcia, Mark Stevens, Angela Stevens, Autumn Harmon and their spouses, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels and Baca's Mimbres Crematory of Deming

The Milton Whitt family in the 1900 Census

Hello, I am seeking information on the Milton Whitt family, living in Randolph Co., Ar. in the 1900 census. This is what I know. Milton Whitt and Sarah McCormick filed for a marriage license in Clay co., Ar, 11-07-1891. Milton's age is incorrectly listed as 21 yrs. I have found our grandfather Elmer, who is 7yrs old in 1900, as living in Randolph Co., Missouri, in the 1910, census, and he is listed as an orphan. Something tragic happened in his life between 1900 and 1910. He (Elmer) would never discuss his past. It was roumered that he got into some sort of trouble, perhaps even hurt or killed someone. Elmer's mother is listed in the 1910 census as being in a mental institution in Farmington, Mo. If anyone can help with any information on my Whitt ancestors, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Debbie

Looking for help with the Tarleton or Tarlton Toney family. They moved to Randolph County Arkansas in the last 1890s. Tarleton married Mary Susan Gerrard in 1867 in Illinois. His son, Charles (Charlie) Toney, married Julia Lauderback in Saline County, Illinois on 25 Sept. 1893. The families moved to Arkansas a few years later. I'm looking for any help before they came to Arkansas. Who were their parents, families?

Looking for info on John W. LANE and Lucinda PARREGIN(sp?) married 1856 Randolph County

I can't find a surname message board for PARREGIN so I think this name is spelled wrong.
If the John W. LANE on the 1860 census ( see below ) is the same John W. LANE who married her it looks like she may have died in child birth.
Looking for someone who might have the John W. LANE line to answer these questions I have.
I'm looking for my GGgrandfather named William Henry LANE b.1858 in IL. and ended up in Hiram, Cowan Township, Wayne County, Missouri. His obit also mentions Scott Co, MO. when he was younger. ( see info below )

Thank You,

Theresa theresagriffiths@iwon.com

Arkansas Marriages, 1851-1900
Name: JOHN W. LANE
Spouse: LUCINDA PARREGIN
Marriage Date: 21 Oct 1856
County: Randolph
State: AR

1860 Randolph Co, AR census, Pocahontas, p. 13
#95 John W. Lame? 29 m farmer $0r $100p TN
William H. Lame? 2 m IL
Caleb H. Lane 20 m farmer TN
M. Lane 20 f housekeeper IL

In 1870 there's a John Lane the same age and birthplace as the John W. Lame above in Randolph Co, AR with a wife named Martha and 3 young children. There's no sign of the son, William H., if that's the same John Lane.

I am searching for information on Benjamin David Hall. He might have been known as David or Dave Hall. He was born about 1876 in McCracken County KY. He married Lena Marie Jerrell in June 27, 1897 in Metropolis, IL. They lived briefly in Ballard County, KY. By 1915 they moved to Randolph Co., AR. They had 8 children. Lena left the family when the two younger children were preschool. I think Benjamin David Hall died in Maynard, AR about 1947. I am looking for any information on Benjamin David Hall, such as did he ever remarry, have more children or his death date.

I am looking for info on Wesley James who married Georgia A Allison in Randolph County Ark in 1895, their sons were Elmer, John and Remmel. Wesley was a brother to my relative Mollie Jane James. Their parents were William and Elizabeth (?) James. I am trying to locate the history of the parents who came from Georgia and Alabama respectivly in the mid 1800's and settled in the Dalton/Oconee area. Mollie married William Riley Rice in 1866, who's parents were Fielding and Susan Rice. I am interested in any info on any of these families.

JOHN R. LEWIS

I am still trying to find who the parents/siblings of my great grandfather, John Richard Lewis, were. He was born Feb. 8, 1863 in MO. He married Sarah Frances Snider in Oct. of 1900 in Dunklin Co. She was the daughter of Benjmain Franklin Snider and Elizabeth Bailey of Dunklin Co. John may have been mnarried before and lived in Colorado for awhile before coming back to Dunklin Co.
John is living as a boarder on the 1900 census in Campbell with a Henry Mattson? family. I cannot find Sarah and family on the 1900 census although I am sure they are in Dunklin Co. The census says that John's father was born in Kentucky.
John and Sarah moved to Randolph/Clay Co., AR between 1900 and 1903 when their oldest daughter, Gracie Agnes Lewis, was born. She was my great aunt.
John and Sarah were still in Randolph/Clay Co., AR in 1909 when their youngest daughter, Bessie Lennie Lewis (my grandmother) was born. Sarah died either giving birth to or shortly after Bessie was born.
John and the girls are in Randolph/Clay Co., AR on the 1910 census, John is a widow. John remarried between 1910 and 1920 to an Underwood in Randolph/Clay Co. AR. He was still in Randolph/Clay Co., AR in 1920. His second wife died before 1920. They had two children, a son, Wilburn, born in 1911 and a daughter, Opal Irene, born in 1915.
John remarried between 1920 and 1930 to a lady with the last name of Keys/Keyes in Clay Co., AR. She died before 1930.
John and Sarah's oldest daughter, Gracie Agnes Lewis, (Agnes) married Leonard Boyd (Boyd)Vinson in Oct. of 1919 in Piggott in Randolph/Clay Co., AR. They were living back in Dunklin Co., MO by 1922 when their second child, Dorothy was born. They remained living in Canpbell the rest of their lives. They are both buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.
John Lewis is living in Ash Hill Twp. in Butler Co., MO on the 1930 census. He is living next door to his youngest daughter, Bessie, and her husband, Willis Brown, with son, Wilburn and daughter Opal Irene.
John R. Lewis, lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Agnes and Boyd Vinson from around 1931 until he died May 10, 1933 of cancer. It says on his DC that he also had something on his forehead above his right eye. His DC says that he was buried in Pollard in Clay Co., AR, on his Funeral Record it says he was buried in New Hope Cemetery in AR, but he was buried in Rocky Hill Cemetery outside Campbell for some reason.
There are a lot of Lewises in and around Randolph/Clay Co and Dunklin Co., MO areas. I can't help but think that some of them must be related to my great grandfather. I would appreciate any help. Thanks
Charlotte Christensen
ly68@charter.net

I am looking for information on a James McEntire born abt 1802 in Ky. married to a Mary Overby born abt 1815 in N.C. They were listed in the 1850 census in Randolph County. Their children were Jonathan born in Ill.1830, Caroline b. Ill. 1834, Sarah b. Ill. 1836, Martha b. Ill. 1838, Charles Henry b. Ill 1841, Cynthia E. b. Ill 1842 and Hester b. Ark. 1847. A son, James Wesley McIntyre b. 1827 in Ky. and his wife, Rebecca b.1831 in Mo. were also living in Randolph County. James W. married Rebecca C. Pratt April 5, 1846 in Randolph County. The family moved back to Illinois early in the 1850's. James and Mary and James and Rebecca were in Crawford County Arkansas in 1860.

One of the daughters married a Rice and the other one a Kirkpatrick. I can't find marriage records for either one of them. I don't know whether they were married in Arkansas or Illinois.

I don't know why they moved from Illinois to Randolph County about 1846 and then moved back to Illinois about 1852. James, the father and James the son were back in Crawford County in the 1860 census.

I would like to share information on this family.
1889 Marriage that took place in Randolph Co., AR, where was it recorded?

I am so confused. I am thinking that I may have found the marriage of my gr-gr grandfather's brother in our church's record book. I am very excited if this is the case because I have nothing on him. The church is located in Randolph County but I can't find that the marriage license was ever turned in there. Is it possible that the marriage license was turned in where they went to live? The still elusive place I can't seem to find. If so, how would I go about trying to find it? If anyone can help the marriage was John Thompson to Elizabeth Cox in Oct 1889. I used to could search ancestry.com's marriages but since they changed it up I am completely lost.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

I am seeking information on descendants of Thomas G. Smith who married Mildred Aurelia Merritt Kimbrough 27 Feb 1844 in Hopkins County, KY. The 1860 Randolph County Arkansas census shows the family living there. Children of the marriage were: James G. Smith, Martha Smith, Corina Smith, Cordia Smith, Mary Smith and Thomas Smith.
The 1870 Hopkins County KY census shows James G. and his wife, Harriet Gertrude Allen Smith, along with three of James' brothers and sisters. Children of James Smith and Harriet Allen are: Lillian Gertrude Smith, Nellie Smith, Roy A. Smith, Lindsey Melburn Smith, Maudie Smith, Sara S. Smith, James Everet Smith, Arthur Leslie Smith, Paul Owen Smith, Clare Smith, Guy Smith and Virgil Pratt Smith.
I would love to share information with anyone researching these Smiths. My connection is through Thomas G. Smith's wife, Mildred Aurelia Merritt.

I found the death certificate online for Adelia Reynolds Hall, daughter of Jackson & Sarah Gullett Reynolds. She died July 1, 1912 in Jasper Co., Missouri. She is listed as Mrs. Delia Hall. She was born on Feb. 12, 1871 in Ark. Jackson Reynolds and Sarah Gullett are listed as her parents. She died from a gastric ulcer. She is buried in the Webb City Cemetery, Jasper Co., MO. I have her husband's name as Euleaser Hall, but the one who gave the info on her death certificate was Mr. U. E. Hall. He lived at 1024 W. Daugherty. I found a city directory online for Webb City for the year 1915-1916 and found Ulysses E. Hall living there, so I assume that Adelia's husband's name was Ulysses Euleaser Hall. Ulysses E. Hall had a new wife in the directory named Maggie. I know that Adelia and Euleaser had sons named Claude L. Hall and Loyd Hall. In the same directory I found Lloyd Hall living at the same Daugherty address. Lloyd was a student and Ulysses E. Hall was a laborer at the SW MO. Railway.
I found a C. L. Hall who was a conductor at the S.W. MO. Railway. I assume this is Claude L. Hall. I found Claude L. Hall in the 1920 census of Jasper Co. Missouri. He was 25 years old. He was married, but it was very hard to read his wife's name. I think her name could have been Vashti.
If, you can add to this, please let me know.
Thank you,
Joy Luttrell Tubbs
Fort Worth, Texas

Tucker Family in early to mid 1800s in Arkansas?

I am looking for a John, Thomas or possibly Alfred TUCKER that might have been living in Arkansas before 1845. The Tucker I am looking for might have married an Elizabeth Badeau from LA or MS. At one time we thought we had them connected to Jane Humphry, but that is not correct.
John Jefferson Tucker was born in 1845 in McComb, MS, the son of the above query.J.J. Tucker married (in 1875) Anneta Whitcomb of Covington St. Tam., LA. JJ. and Anetta named one of their sons, Thomas Brinsfield Tucker. There might be a Brinsfield connection. We are having a devil of a time finding out about his parentage. Family lore is very confusing and contridictory!
HELP, HELP, HELP!
Thanks,
Jana Rooke
