My ggggrandfather was William H Hignight that married Nicy Elizabeth power (I am still looking for her parents). I am related through his daughter Janie or Georgia, depending on which census you read. I believe her full name was Georgia Jane Hignight. She married Alvie Ashley who was my great grandfather. I would love any information, pictures, etc.. that anyone might have of them as we have very few pictures of that side of the family. or any information. The 1900 census says that she had 11 children and only 5 were living at that point. Going back further is difficult because it seems that their children lived in other homes. I have also found an elizabeth Hignight in other census' but it is always in a home that does not have a hignight as head. Does anyone know if this was normal back then with the indian census. I have also noticed that when she and william lived in TX they showed as white, but when they moved to Oklahoma, they show nicy and her son joseph as Indian (choctaw).
