Does anyone have listings of where people are buried in Prairie Co., AR? I'm from out of state. I know some of my family is buried in Prarie County but I do not know where or when. I know A.B. (Abel Basco) Parr and wife Melissa "Drue" [Fowler] Parr are buried in Center Point Cemetery as is their daughter Rosa Lee [Parr] Wright. I'm guessing her brothers Welmon Purvis Parr & James Willie Parr are buried there too. Is George Ann [Parr] Foster buried there with her husband Will B. Foster or Alice [Foster] Maddox and her husband Elijah Maddox? I think Will and Alices mother Nancy J. Foster died in 1925 is she buried there? They're some where in Prairie Co., AR. I could use some help, please!!!!!!

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Prairie County, Arkansas as his home of record.

Soldier: BOBBIE EVANTS
Born: August 2, 1930. Caucasian
Date of loss: Feb. 13, 1951. POW

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 17 families in Arkansas that have not been located. There is one family from Prairie County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
I'm searching for information about a Civil War soldier who died in De Vall's Bluff. I'm assuming he died in the Union Hospital there. Samuel O'HARA was a private in the 7th Missouri Calvary (Union Army). Was there a battle there? Or was he sent there to the hospital after being injured somewhere else. Any help greatly appreciated.

Tucker Family in early to mid 1800s in Arkansas?

I am looking for a John, Thomas or possibly Alfred TUCKER that might have been living in Arkansas before 1845. The Tucker I am looking for might have married an Elizabeth Badeau from LA or MS. At one time we thought we had them connected to Jane Humphry, but that is not correct.
John Jefferson Tucker was born in 1845 in McComb, MS, the son of the above query.J.J. Tucker married (in 1875) Anneta Whitcomb of Covington St. Tam., LA. JJ. and Anetta named one of their sons, Thomas Brinsfield Tucker. There might be a Brinsfield connection. We are having a devil of a time finding out about his parentage. Family lore is very confusing and contridictory!
HELP, HELP, HELP!
Thanks,
Jana Rooke
I am needing information about Elizabeth Hallum, daughter of George and Justine Hallum, and John D Neal/Neil/Neel. I have them being married 1 Nov, 1860. On the 1870 census for Lonoke Township, Prairie, AR, it shows her living with her children, mother, siblings and some people by the name of Kahn(?). Since John is not listed, I am assuming he died, but cannot find a death date or where he's buried. Any help with this brick wall is most welcomed and appreciated!

They were next door to their widowed sister Sarah Cohoon. These families had migrated from Trigg County KY. in the late 1840's. Amos in the 1850 census had 2 sons Hiram (after Amos's Father) b. 1848 and Amos Jr. b. 1850. Will exchange info. Thanks

Lula and David Holmes are also buried in Hardshell. Ursuly is the sister of my great grandmother Mary Emmaline (Burleson) Weaver. Jim and Sam married sisters. The children of Jim and Ursuly are Lois, James Buford, and Carlos Weaver. I have been told that some of the family is still living in Des Arc. I also believe that some of the family are buried in cemeteries in Prairie County. I have found their names on a list at the Prairie County website, but have been unable to determine where they are buried. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am searching for information on the William Harrison England family that lived in these counties in the 1800's. William Harrison's son, John Calhoun England, was the man for which England, AR, was named, and was quite well-known during his time in that area. He served as privae secretary to AR Governor James P. Eagle from 1889-1893. Any information or pictures that can be provided would be very appreciated. I am especially interested in pictures. I am a descendant of William Harrison's brother, Powell England. Thank you.

Hi, I am following the family of Sanford and Sarah Ann Phillips Carter. I found them in the 1900 Prairie county, Arkansas census along with one child, Charles A. Carter. Two other children also appear in this census, Mallie Jane (Carter) Roper and William A. Carter. There may even be more. I am looking for what happened to Sanford and Sarah after 1900 because they seem to vanish.

Sanford Carter Jr.
Born : March 1850, Itawamba County, Mississippi
Died : After 1900

Sarah Ann Phillips
Born : Sept 1846, Tennessee
Died : After 1900

Both the Roper and William A. Carter families moved back to Mississippi but there is no evidence of Sanford and Sarah moving back.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)
Thanks!
Jon

James and Effia BUCHANAN, 1840s Coosa Co., AL; 1850 Prairie Co. AR

Looking for any information about James Buchanan, born bet. 1790-1800 SC and lived near present day Wetumka in what was then Coosa Co. AL in 1840. James owned land in T19 R18E S14-15 on both sides of the Coosa River, north of Wallsboro. He seems to have died before 1850 because his wife Effia (born c1799 NC) had moved to Prairie Co., AR where she is listed in the 1850 census. I know they had at least five children: Mary (c1827), William (c1829), Ann (c1832), John (c1836), and Uphemia (c1839) because these are all listed in Effia's household in 1850. All of them seem to disappear off the planet after 1850. I believe James and Effia to be the parents of my great-great-grandfather J. Charles "Charley" Buchanan (1826 AL - 1890 TX). Finding Grandpa Charley's parents has been a two-decade brick wall, so I'd be especially grateful for any clues and James and Effia
and any of their descendants. Many thanks for your help.

YOUNGMAN BIBLE

I understand that there is a YOUNGMAN Bible somewhere in this county or state that pertains to my mother's YOUNGMAN family. Her grandfather, John YOUNGMAN, b 1836, IN was married 3 times. The 2nd wife Sally/Sarah (JACKSON) YOUNGMAN was the mother of George Samuel YOUNGMAN, b 1872, Howard Co,IN. Sally evidently died sometime between 1873-1880 because John shows up in Davidson Co, TN with wife #3 Julia (MARTIN) and sons Charles E. from the 1st marriage and George S. By 1900, John and Julia are in Prairie Co, AR where Julia dies before the 1900 census is taken. Enumerated with John are Robert Lee (son by Julia), George S. and Helen F (George's daughter/my mother).
All I want is info about what happened to Sally/Sarah - date of death and cemetery where buried. If anyone has any clues or access to the YOUNGMAN bible, it would be a wonderful gift for this ol' gal who is not getting any younger and would love to fill in my grandmother YOUNGMAN's chart! Thank you for any assistance!
Pat

I am looking for information on my great, great Uncle John Novak and his wife, Anna. John was born about 1852 in Bohemia and had a farm in Hazen, Arkansas. His wife was born about 1856. I found them in the 1920 census and it listed 4 children (Louis 1890, Mary 1882, Charles 1895, and John 1880). John and Anna were married in Illinois and their children Mary and John were born in Illinois. The other two children (Louis and Charles) were born in Nebraska, so evidently they spent some time there as well.

I beleive John Novak Sr. had 5 siblings: Frank, my great great grandfather, born about 1856, Joseph born about 1850, Annie born ?, Mike born ?, and Jim born ?. I am interested in parents names, and birth, death, and marriage dates for any of these individuals, however any info at all would be great. I can be reached at tvkenn@aol.com.

Thanks!

Cooper family

I am looking for information on a Cornelius Cooper b 1820 Tennessee, married to Hannah B 1824 in England. They were on the 1850 Arkansas census, but not on the 1860 census. Had 2 daughters and 1 son on the 1850 Prairie census, but these children were listed without parents on the 1860's Pulaski County census: Lucinda b 1843 Arkansas, Mary J. b 1845 Arkansas, Daniel b 1849. Possibly had a daughter Dica b 1854 Arkansas. On the 1860 Pulaski census was living with the Levi Herrod (Herred on the census) family in same county as the other children. Duica later married a Dorsey. I would LOVE to find some information on the other Cooper children and information on Cornelius and Hannah. Thanks Linda

Can anyone help me find information about my ggm. My information is scanty. Her name was Sallie Johnson (or variations). She married Morris Fennell in 1888 (Union Co.). She died around 1899. She is reported to be Cherokee or part Cherokee, "adopted" as in infant by the Johnson family. Possibly "Trail of Tears".....????
