It has been a while since you posted your original request so this may be old info to you. In a book titled "Family Maps of Pope County, Arkansas", George W. Carter purchased land in adjoining Sections 17 and 20. The land was located just east of Holla Bend and south of Flag Lake Road. The land is on both sides of the Arkansas River. By overlaying the map in the Family Map book over a current day map, it appears that at least part of the land is located in the Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge. If you are still looking for them on censuses, be sure to check Yell and Conway counties. The land is just north of the Pope/Yell county line and Conway county is nearby.
