1880 U.S. Census
Long Rapids, Alpena County, Michigan
Enumerated 4 Jun 1880
Gordon, Alex R. – Head, 29, Farmer, b. Canada, Parents b. Scotland
Gordon, Jennett – Wife, 25, Keeps House, b. Canada, Father b. Canada, Mother b. Scotland
Gordon, George – Son, 7, Attends School, b. Canada, Parents b. Canada
Gordon, Jane – Daughter, 5, b. Michigan, Parents b. Canada
In 1900, George is living in Jackson County, Arkansas. He is single and a boarder in the household of Thomas Layton. George reports his birth information as Jan 1873. His occupation is tiemaker (?).
Sadly, an obituary is not likely to be found. Microfilmed issues of the Harrisburg “Modern News” date back to late 1891. There was also the “Arkansas Tribune” printed out of Harrisburg, but only a few years exist (late 1870’s and early 1880’s).
Hope this helps. Good luck with your search!
