Seeking more information about the Reverend Ernest W. Tong family who lived in the Redland community in the 1880s-1920s. He was a Methodist minister and may have been pastor of one of two Methodist churches at Redland (probably called Oak Grove and Mt. Nebo) during this early period. The Tongs appear to have been related to the Webb, Worthington, and Hughes families, as well as later possibly the Jackson and Ridling families.

Also seeking more info on the following Tong child buried in 1902 at Shady Grove Cemetery at Redland:

HORACE W. TONG – born 1890, died 1902. Horace, who died at age 12, appears to be the son of Sarah S. Webb Worthington and Rev. Ernest W. Tong—-a Methodist minister at Redland in 1888-1897. Sarah died in 1923, and she is buried at nearby Liberty Cemetery. Rev. Ernest W. Tong had earlier been married to Sarah A. Hughes (born 1841 AL, died in Nov 1888), who helped organize Salem Methodist Church in 1880.

Others who may be related: John F. Tong married in 1897 to Camilla Jackson, with Rev. Ernest W. Tong performing the ceremony. Earl T. Ridling married Etta Tong about 1914 at Redland. E. D. Tong married C. V. Jackson in 1899 at Redland. In 1954 at Prescott, there was a State Trooper policeman, R. Henry Tong, which may also be from this particular Tong family line.
