My husband and I both have been in both of those cemeteries on numerous occasions. I have pictures of several of the tombstones. One of the cemeteries has grave markers and tombstones so old that you can't read the inscriptions. From what research I have been able to obtain from the inscriptions on alot of them, they are of blacks who were affiliated with the underground slave movement thru this area, and several war veterans. It is covered with trees and sticker bushes and has alot of sunken graves areas. It sits on a ditch bank and unless you are familiar with the area, you would not know that it was an old cemetary. I have spoken with several prominent black people ain this area about trying to reclaim the cemetery thru the State of AR but no one is interested. It is something that I would have to have alot of help in doing, but I do think the property owner would co-operate. The other cemetary has been kept in better condition, I think because it is the burial place of several of the ancesters of the farmer that owns the property. But there has been a fire there in the past three years and it caused alot of damage to the cemetery. They are both located on the same gravel road, just a couple miles distance in between. I also have pics of several of the tombstones in that cemetery. If there are any in particular that you are looking for, I would be glad to try to help you. You can email me at the above email address.
