I don't know if this will help or not but Samuel Cornett's mother was living in Stone Co MO when my grandfather was born. She died when he was a very small child, sometime between Aug of 1890 when he was born and 1893 when her husband remarried. In all of the census records she is in, her name is Sarah C, so her middle name is probably not Ann. According to family trees in Ancestry she had a female relative named Sarah Ann.

Redman - Redmond

I am researching my grandfather George Washington Redman/Redmond born 19 Sep 1888 at Combs, Madison Co, Arkansas. George was the son of Nancy Paralee Hill and a Mr _____ Redman/Redmond. In 1896 Nancy Paralee Hill married Moses Gibson. George married on 11 May 1908 in Madison Co to Zollie Stapleton d/o Commodore and Susan Janette (Poff) Stapleton. The marriage license for George and Zollie lists his name as George Redmond of Dutton. The marriage license is located in book H page 112, Madison County. By 1910 George is using his step father's last name of Gibson. The 1910 census shows George, Zollie & young son Basil living in the Kentucky Twp HH 105, Madison County. Very little is known about the elusive Mr Redman/Redmond, a distant relative who did research years ago had some information. She thought Nancy Paralee's mother Lucinda (Tucker) Hill took in boarders and that Mr Redman was one of those boarders. It's thought that Mr Redman was looking for work or was working in the area.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Sher
sheriankennedy@aol.com

The information that you've posted here is very incomplete. I was contacted today by Mildred DAVIS Gulledge, who is a descendant of this Davis family and who pointed out these errors:

1. Otto and Mae Davis had 5 children, instead of the only 1 you mentioned.

2. Loye and Derice Davis (parents of Mildred DAVIS Gulledge) had four girls instead of the 1 child you list.

3. Sylvia DAVIS VanBrunt (sister of Mildred DAVIS Gulledge) is buried in Brashears Cemetery and her grave does have a tombstone, and is not unmarked as you stated.

4. Clyde Davis' nickname was "Dudgeon" but this was not a part of his actual name.

Mildred stated that there are numerous other errors in this genealogy and she hopes it can be corrected. If you'd like to correspond with Mildred to correct this, I can provide you with her contact information.

Obituary of Martha Hill Kesner of Searcy and Madison counties, Arkansas

http://www.agsgenealogy.org/databases/pdffiles/AFH/AFH171Mar...

Stumbled across obituary of Martha Hill Kesner, Lewis Holland's half-sister, from 1/12/1923 Madison Co. Record, reprinted in Arkansas Family Historian, Vol. 17, vo. 1, Jan-Mar 1979, p. 76. Evidently Leah Allen Hill Holland was also called "Arillia"--I guess "Leah" is a shortened form. Undoubtedly your Leah Ann Kesner was named for her, and so was one of Lewis Holland (her half-brother and my g-g-grandfather)'s children. Also, James A. Holland & Leah must've married in AK, after James Hill died, since the obit refers to her father being in AK with the family (although no 2nd marriage of Leah is mentioned, so the reference to her father may be to James Holland as her step-father). The Hill and Kesner families are said to have come to AK together, though so it's hard to know. Martha and her sister Jane are listed as living with James and Leah Holland in Wileys Cove, Searcy Co., AK in 1850 census. Don't know what became of her sister Jane or who her brothers were, except for my g-g-grandfather, Lewis Holland, her half-brother mentioned in article. They must've lost touch, because her family evidently didn't know he'd died in 1915 in San Antonio (this obit is 1923). Census also lists Charles Holland, another half-brother. I believe I've traced him to Bowie County, Tx in 1860, and I believe he enlisted in Confederate army there. If it's the same Chas. Holland, military records list him being in a hospital in Georgia with syphilis during Civil War; I suspect he died of it as treatment wasn't very helpful back then. Hope this info is helpful, and I'd appreciate any other info you run across.

By 1910, Cain has remarried to Maud/Maudie Dry and they are still found on the 1910 Boston, Madison, AR census. Any information regarding Martha would be appreciated.
Hi... I'm Jim Price and I also descend from Lewis and Rachel. I have a copy of the Typewriting School book and my Dad, Ray Price, is one of the cousins pictured... I've just returned from Germany where my sister, Cari, and I delved into some rich Price (Preisch) history. The Typewriting School had the Prices of English descent, however, we come from a rich German heritage. On the Parker side, my grandmother Grace was Lewis and Rachel's daughter. Upon my return from Germany, I browsed through the T'School book and landed on Rachel's mother's maiden name: Dungan. You'll be amazed at what I found as a direct link to England on the Parker side. Search the Dungan name online beginning with Angeline Dungan (Rachel's mother) whose husband was James Mapel Albright. Enjoy the journey!!! You might want to google Frances Latham Dungan before you start and work your way back to her beginning with Angeline... Some of the sites you'll find take a detour away from Frances Latham Dungan, however, there are a couple that link us up directly.. JP

This is such an amazing post. However, 15. Tina R. REEVES Harris posting has some incorrect information. She was my grandmother and had no middle name. She was always called "Tiney" perhaps because of her small size. Her oldest daughter Nora Virgina HARRIS (always called Virginia) married Paul Reed Stanphill 18 January 1946. The Virgina Lee STANPHILL buried in the Farmer Cemetery is the sister of Paul Reed Stanphill.

The Madison County Courthouse burned 3 times prior to 1902 so the records before 1900 are limited. You would have to check with the Circuit Clerk for deed records and with the County Clerk for Probate records to see what's available.

Joy Russell
Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society

A.C. Montgomery death around 1917 or 1918. He was once married to a Mary Allen after that, he married my grandma Clemmie or Clemitine. My dad was only 6 to 8 months old when his father died. I'm sure he had children with Mary Allen. My dad never spoke of his father because he never got to know him. I have a marriage license for an A.C. Montgomery and Mary Allen in 1880 in Conway County, Arkansas. My grandma told my oldest sister he was married to Mary Allen before her. She also said he was shot to death in Warren, AR., but I cannot find any records of that. I did find records of an Andrew Columbus or A. Columbus Montgomery that died in 1918, but I havent found the cause of death or where he is buried. My grandma may not have told the truth about his death, I'm not sure. Just trying to look at every avenue. I would love to see a picture of him at least. My grandma also said his name was Alva or Alvie Montgomery.

I'm attaching a copy of the obituary you requested. The microfilm of the newspaper is very poor. Here is what the obituary says:

From Madison County Record, 29 October 1931 issue

E. A. Wallace, formerly of Madison County, died at his home at Asbury, MO., August 5th 1931. He was a native of Georgia, came to Arkansas about 36 years ago. After spending about 11 years here he went to Missouri where he stayed most of the time until his death. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Eva May Louck of Asbury, MO., Mrs. Floyd Callico of Drakes Creek, Ark., Estill, Claud and Clyde Wallace, all of Asbury. He is also survived by two brothers, John and Ola Wallace of Gainesville, GA.

Here is an attachment of a scanned copy of the obituary:

Joy Russell
Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society

I am currently researching family history and happened on to this thread when I saw my grandfather, Cecil Harris's name. My brother, sister and I currently own part of my grandfather's farm where the Lee Cemetary is located. I have seen that cemetary several times throughout the years but never knew the name of it or it's history. I see that this was posted several years ago but if you'd still like to see the headstones I would be happy to try to get some good pictures of the head stones there. I haven't visited that part of the farm in quite a while so I'm not sure what kind of shape it is in.

Re: Jarrett Wiley Davis family
This was an interesting posting I ran across in watching the Madison county board. My family were Jordans that migrated to Madison county in the 1840's by way of going through Alabama to Arkansas. This name above is comprised of three families that all inter acted with my Jordans living in current Stephens county area. Before Stephens it was Habersham and before Habersham records are found as Franklin county, Georgia. These Davis hailed from Van Davis' line that bought property there from my Brewers. The Davis lines were in Newberry District and migrated to Kentucky a spell then back to Newberry and then to Stephens county, if I remember the history right. The land they bought was in what's referred to by name as "Going Snake District" and was originally Cherokee lands. The Jarretts from that same area lived around Big Smith District neighboring the old Tugalo Baptist Church and right on the border of the river bordering Georgia and South Carolina. These Jarretts tie into Deveroux (sp) Jarrett that owned the stage coach inn and was referred to as Travelers Rest, Georgia. This land was purchased from Jesse Walton, if I remember right. Now the Wileys lived right across the river in the Madison, Oconee county, South Carolina side. The Wileys, Guests and Clevelands brought their families there as a safe haven during the revolutionary war with COL. Benjamin Cleveland and settled their families in for the safety of the war and intermingled over the years. All these men were officers in the revolutionary war and fought with Cleveland at Kings Mountain, among other campaigns. So if you lose your trail on these families in Madison county, surf for information regarding these families in Stephens, Habersham, Franklin counties, Georgia and Oconee, Pickens, Anderson and Greenville counties, South Carolina and see if you do not pick them back up. Also south of Habersham county in Hall county around Gillsville area is another cluster of Jarrett lines that I relate to. At times the names morph into Jarred also. You'll probably have a few Ayers from this area tossed into the mix also.
Hope this helps anyone with their research in trying to backtrack their family's migration movements.

They are buried side by side in the Yale Cemetery.John Henry's first son is William R Davis and ancestery has William R Davis as his father. If you have infromation that disproves this I would want very much to know it.My e-mail is avisowens62@yahoo.com. Please reply.
