Apparently my great grandmother, whose maiden name was Richardson, remarried in 1900 in Little River, AR to Cortez Nicewarner. Cortez remarried in 1905. I have not been able to find out when she died or where she is buried. I know she was alive in 1917 and was living in Calion, Union Co., AR.

I need help finding my family in Little River County, AR. I'm not sure if they came from Little River, but I know they had affiliates there because my 2nd great grandfather and his wife married there. His name is James Thomas Evans and her name was Susan Phelps. His father was James M. Evans and his mother was Sarah A. ?(last name unknown) I did find Sarah buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery a few miles down the road from Ashdown but I can't find James. I'm not sure whether he remarried again or not. Also looking for Susan Phelps parents, William D. Phelps and Susan? Ilast name unknown) I know they also had a son named Willie P. Phelps. They are found on the 1900 Bowie County census record but I'm sure they came from Little River. If there is anyone out there that can help me with my search please contact me. Thanks a bunch.

Chastity Etheridge

Does anyone have, or know of, a transcription of information from the HAMILTON S. DAVIS family bible? Hamilton Davis and his wife Grace Johnson Davis lived in LR roughly 1890-1980. Grace was my father's sister. I have seen a reference to this bible, and understand some Davis or other family researchers may have the transcribed information. Some related surnames: Davis, Johnson, Duncan, Withem, Ford, Dore, Lewis, Carroll, Hankins, Rushing, Hollowell.

Thank you for any information you can share.

BREEDLOVES in Little River County, AR

Looking for more info. on the following Breedlove siblings.

William Breedlove - born Dec. 1851 in MS. 1900 census shows he's in Bowie County, TX and widowed.

Sallie Breedlove - born Feb. 1860 in AR. 1900 census shows she's in Choctaw Nation, I.T. 1910 & 1920 censuses shows she's in McCurtain Co, OK. She married Simon Morgan sometime between 1881-1893. I have no info. on Simon Morgan other than he was born in AR. They had two children: Dulcy/Dulsie Morgan born abt. 1893 and Myrtle Ann Morgan born Nov. 2 1896/1897. Sallie had a child, Mary Lynus, in 1881 out of wedlock. (There's much more to that family story.) Mary and her sister Dulsie married Martin brothers Lewis and Charlie. Mary, Lewis, Charlie, and Dulsie all had children, but died fairly young. Myrtle said her mother Sallie was blind.

W. Dave Breedlove - born about 1860 in AR. 1910 census shows he's living with his sister Sallie. Married Rhoda Bell Austin in 1889 but they were divorced in 1916 as he deserted her. They had a child, Amanda Breedlove, but I don't know if she lived beyond childhood. He went blind before he died.

John W./M. Breedlove - born abt. 1865 in MS/AR. Married Margaret Austin (sister of Rhoda Austin who married Dave Breedlove). They had children: Ada Breedlove b: 1890, Lucy Breedlove b: 1893, and Ida Breedlove b: 1900. Ada Breedlove married John Smith who soon died. She had a child, Estelle/Esther SMith. She then married Jim Adams. They had three children: Fatrel? Adams, Lowie Adams, and Pearl Adams. Pearl married a Calloway. Lucy married Ezekiel Davis and had children Lily L. Davis b: 1908, Bell Davis b: 1912, and Emma Faye Davis b: 1920. Faye married Virgil Dillard and they had children Donna, Freeman, Gail, James, and Patricia. After Virgil died she married Claude Chadwick. She and Virgil Dillard and Claude Chadwick are buried in the Byram Cemetery in Tom, OK. The Breedlove Lake in McCurtain County is named after him as he used to own the land and have a home on the lake. John left to work on the railroad and never returned. He made his home in Harney, Oregon where he died in 1946. He went blind before he died.

Is anyone familiar with this family? I'm also told there is a Rhodie Breedlove in the Byram ledger, but I went to the cemetery and did not find his grave. There are many grave stones in the cemetery that have deteriorated and cannot be read.

Christie

I have some information but am searching for anything additional on my great-grandparents, Earl Elonzo Davis and Mamie Anne Morren Davis who resided in Foreman for most of their married lives, I believe. I know there was some Indian blood in my great-grandmother, but I don't know what it was (I think Cherokee, but not sure). There is still a lot of family that lives there and I am trying to find out information for my grandparent (their son's) 60th wedding anniversary party in a couple of weeks.

Any help would be appreciated. I would be happy to share whatever information I have with anyone.

Searching for information on my grandfather Joe Morris (possibly Joseph Albert Morris) who farmed close to Foreman, Ark. and married Della May Sharp approx. 1920, had 3 daughters - Lucille, Edna, and Nina. I believe that Joe Morris was born in Kentucky approx. 1873-1876. I believe that Joe had some secrets as he refused to carry identification and never went into town, and he would dissappear for months at a time. In approx. 1930 Joe left for Idabel, Ok. and his family never saw or heard from him again. Thanks in advance for any help.

Mystery Drake married Ann Rebecca Elliott 1874-1884

I am looking for the mystery Drake who married Ann(ie) Rebecca Elliott approximately 1874 to 1884. Most likely in Little River or Hempstead County, Arkansas. Ann was born in 1858 in Alabama and moved with her mother and sister to Little River County, Arkansas early in 1871. In 1885 she (Mrs. A. R. Drake) married W. M. Brown in Little River County. On the 1900 census, she reports having 8 children with 4 living. Since Ann and W M Brown only had 3 living children, I feel there must have been a child from the marriage to a Drake, old enough to be on his/her own, in 1900.
Malone 24 April 1867 in Clark County, AR; had two known children with Margaret: John Napoleon born about 1868 in Little River Co., AR and Eddie Parker born about 1874 Little River Co., AR. Eddie married Marcus Chivers 25 Dec 1892 LR Co., AR and had one child, Leonard Chivers, before her death before 1900. William married 2nd Catherine LNU about 1880 and may have had one male child, L. E. Parker about 1885 in Texas. William and family seem to disappear after 1880 census but according to his sister, Fannie J. Parker Adcock Gill, William died in Bowie County, TX. He is not listed on the 1900 census.

Franklin T. Parker was born about 1848 in Alabama, possibly Chambers County also. He married Caroline Rogers (?) about 1870. They had two known children: Hawley Ann married Thomas Works (have family almost up to date) and Saphronia born about 1876 in Peytonville, Little River County, AR. Saphronia is said to have at least one child, Lillie but have not been able to prove this. This family also disappears after 1880 census and is not listed on 1900 census.

Any information on these two brothers will be greatly appreciated as they are the last of the children to be "found".

Michelle

Cousin Jimmie Wright of the LRCGS went to the Pleasant Hill cem outside of Foreman and went thru this abandoned cem. We did this last summer, but it was so grown up that we did not make any progress. Well, he waited until there was no green growth and walked thru the entire thing. He found our Robert Bartlett Pearce and Jincy Cason Pearce along with son Liberty Pearce all together on the back side. The stones were all on the ground with Robert Bartlett missing the top of his. All 3 still had their footstones.

The name of the cem is Pleasant Hill. The dates are on the stones are:
Liberty Pearce Oct 6 1840- Oct 25 1843
Jincy Pearce May 9 1815-Mar 4 1850
RBP Jan 10 1813-Jun 30 1860

Robert and Jincy are ggg grandparents to me and to Jimmie. Robert & Jincy's dtr, Martha, married Richard Frazier Wright who are our gg grandparents.

The folks in this cem are mostly settlers of Rocky Comfort; there are Fuqua's, Hopsons, Holmans among others.

Thank you Jimmie!

Rayedene

Tucker Family in early to mid 1800s in Arkansas?

I am looking for a John, Thomas or possibly Alfred TUCKER that might have been living in Arkansas before 1845. The Tucker I am looking for might have married an Elizabeth Badeau from LA or MS. At one time we thought we had them connected to Jane Humphry, but that is not correct.
John Jefferson Tucker was born in 1845 in McComb, MS, the son of the above query.J.J. Tucker married (in 1875) Anneta Whitcomb of Covington St. Tam., LA. JJ. and Anetta named one of their sons, Thomas Brinsfield Tucker. There might be a Brinsfield connection. We are having a devil of a time finding out about his parentage. Family lore is very confusing and contridictory!
HELP, HELP, HELP!
Thanks,
Jana Rooke
Henry Ward (age 64) married Mrs Isabel Barnett (age 61) - 1911

Hi,

I have a copy of the marriage certificate for the above couple from the Little River County Courthouse (Book K; page 31).
The marriage bond was signed by E.L. Ward as principal, and Henry Ward as security. The bond was issued on 3rd July 1911, and the ceremony performed on 5th July, 1911, by Elder W.A. Smith. Both the bride & groom were from Winthrop.

Does anyone know what happened to this couple?

I believe that Isobel Barnett (her name was spelled Issabell, Isobell, and Isabel on this single piece of paper alone) was Margaretann Isablah Anderson Barnett, the widow of Andrew N Barnett. I understand that Andrew died about 1901, and that Isabel died about 1915, but I have no obituary or burial information on either of them, or for Mr Ward.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Adcock - Little River Co

Is anyone researching the original settlers of Little River Co, primarily the Adcock family? Bill Beasley's book does not mention any first names of this family. A brother, Anderson W. Adcock, to my ancestor Martha Adcock Sharp went to Little River Co. Anderson and his wife, Mahala died and are buried in Peytonville Cemetery. Does Peytonville still exist? Am willing to share information.

Zachariah Barnett & Martha Ellen Morgan - m. 1889

Hello,

Zachariah Barnett, b. Oct. 1869, was the son of Andrew Barnett & Margaretann Isablah Anderson. His wife, Martha Ellen Morgan, b. Nov 1869, was the daughter of Larkin Bradford & Elizabeth Morgan. Zachariah & Ellen were married in Little River County in 1889.

Zachariah's mother, Margaretann Isablah Anderson, remarried after her husband, Andrew, died in 1901. The purpose of this very long-winded message is to try to find someone who knows the name of the man she remarried, or anything about what she did and/or where she went after Andrew died. I haven't yet found her on the 1910 census. She died about 1915.

According to notes from my grandmother, as well as from data on the 1900/1910/1920/1930 censuses, Zachariah & Martha Ellen had the children listed below. If there are any descendants around who know what happened to Zachariah's mother, Margaretann, after Andrew Barnett died, I would be extremely grateful for the information. Obituary and/or burial information for Andrew & Margaretann would be wonderful, too.

Children of Zachariah & Martha Ellen Morgan Barnett:
James (10 Jan 1896 - 11 May 1962)
Earnest, b. abt 1908
Buddie (a nickname for one of the other boys?)
Annie or Anna M, b. Mar 1897
Clare or Clara, b. abt 1902
Edith, b. abt 1914
Ida, b. July 1893
Henry, b. Nov 1898
Aaron, b. either 1910 or 1902? (1910 Census)
Nathaniel, b. about 1910 (1920 Census)
Zachariah N., b. about 1910 (1930 Census)
(These last three are probably all the same person; almost certainly the last two are the same.)

Thanks in advance for any help!

C Dew
