LIBERTY – Services will be Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church for Mr. Everett Scruggs Jr., 71, who departed this life Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
Mr. Scruggs, lovingly known as “June” was born Jan. 2, 1941, in Marianna, Arkansas, a son of Everett Sr. and Annie M. Walker Scruggs.
He was employed as an inspector with General Motors Lordstown, retiring after 37 years of service. He was a member and trustee at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Transportation Ministry. He enjoyed fishing, billiards, playing cards, and was an avid Cleveland Brown Football fan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Edward Scruggs of Cleveland and Michael Scruggs of Cleveland, Miss.; a daughter, Wanakee Scruggs of Youngstown, Ohio; stepchildren, Robert Huffman and Mikki Winford, both of Youngstown; three sisters, Neomia (Wes) Mitchell of Cleveland, Lois (Frank) Scott and Irene (Troy) Carruth, both of Little Rock, Ark.; seven brothers, Robert (Edna) Moore of Memphis, Tenn., George (Rosalyn) Scruggs, Rev. James (Mary) Scruggs, Rev. David (Janice) Scruggs and Daniel (Mary) Scruggs, all of Little Rock, Emmett (Willie Mae) Scruggs of Richardson, Texas, and John (Dorothy) Scruggs of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; personal friends, Iris Jackson and Pamela Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, J. B. Scruggs; and a sister, Elizabeth Perkins.
Friends may call Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
