New Hope Baptist Church

I am doing research on my ancesters and have run across meeting notes from the New Hope Baptist Church in Lawrence Co., AR in the Dallas Public Library. In the copy of the book that I have seen, there are no pages between 1875 and 1905. I am trying to tie an ancestor Robert McMillen to one of the two McMillen families listed in the records prior to 1875. He was born about 1863 and I believe he is a son of Addison and Priscilla McMillen (McMelon) who are listed in the minutes at various dates from 1852.

My question to you is, is there a copy of the New Hope Baptist Church Minutes more complete that the copy that I have seen? Are there pages in the 1875 to 1890 time frame?

My email address is comexp@msn.com.

I'm seeking possible burial information on Private Jesse K. Little, of the 6th Tennessee Cavalry Co C Union Army, and his wife Martha J. Little. I found Martha J. Lttle in the 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 Census' for the county of Lawrence. Jesse K. Little is listed in the 1870 Mortality Schedule of Lawrence County, as dying in July 1869 in the area of Reeds Creek. Does anyone know if there are tombstones for this couple? I'm researching Co C of the 6th Tennessee Cavalry, for a book of Biographical Sketchs of these soldiers.

Thanks

Mike

John MITCHELL & Nannie COWAN

Here is what I know:
John MITCHELL (b.1861 in Texas or Missouri d.1921 in Arkansas buried in Portia, Arkansas)
Married in Nov. 1888 to
Nancy E. COWAN (Nannie) (b.1861 in Illinois d.1929 in Arkansas also buried in Portia, Arkansas)
They had seven children: Mack, McKinley, Russell, Spencer, William, Florence and Mary Lee.
They also lived in Trumann, Craighead County, Arkansas.
Here is what I might know...
(This was gathered from old memories, family rumors, and a Great Uncle with a semi-reliable memory.)
John’s dad was also a John, born in Missouri and he might have married a Cherokee. It was also said that he was a fur trader on the Mississippi River.
Nannie’s dad was also a John, born in Illinois and may have married a BROWN, also born in Illinois.
Rumor was also that their boys went west. Some say the circus others say one worked on the Hoover Dam.
Here is what I would like to know....
Everything! Well, ok, maybe I can’t know everything, but I would like all the information I can get! I would love to know where the boys went and where the Indian fits into the line. My great grandma (Mary Lee) always said she was mixed blood (with Indian), but she would never discuss it any further. She said it was considered a disgrace to be mixed. My grandma – her daughter always said Mary Lee was ½ Indian; of course you couldn't always believe what she said, but, it would be nice to know for sure.
Thank you in advance if you can help!!
Jennifer
1915 Tornado in Imboden, Lawrence Co., AR

I'm looking for information about the tornado that hit Imboden in 1915. I did find a blurb from "The History of Imboden, Part II" that said McLeod's history mentions that 1 person was killed in that tornado. Does anyone know if the McLeod history names the person? My grand-aunt said in her research notes that James Monroe Jones (b. 1878, d. 1915, son of Samuel Jones and Melvina Boar/Boren) was killed during this tornado and that his body was never found.

I'm trying to confirm if James is the person mentioned in the McLeod's history. Does anyone have access to it to check?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
William Jackson & Mary Jain Ogwyn, m. 1861

I'm looking for information about William Jackson and Mary Jain Ogwyn, who are reported to have married in Lawrence County on 14 March 1861. It's possible that Mary Jain Ogwyn may have been Tennessee-born Mary Jane "Polly" O'Guinn (1844-1890), a daughter of North Carolina-born Solomon O'Guinn. Two Jackson children, Arkansas-born William, aged 4, and Missouri-born Cynthia, aged 1, show up in the household of Solomon O'Guinn in the 1870 census for Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.

I am trying to contact some of my grandfathers brother's families. My grandfather was William Robert Dickey. He and his next younger brother Joseph A. Dickey were in Boone County, AR for the 1900 census. My grandparents went to TX but his brothers remain in AR. Joseph A. married in Lawrence Co. AR as did two of his younger brothers. Joseph married Lula Ann Ide (1902), Jeff (Jefferson) married Mrs Clara Hutson (1914)and Samuel B. married Ora Teague (1919). I know Samuel moved later to Mo and he married several times. I don't know anything about Charles or James ( I was told he died young). I found Joseph, Jefferson and Samuel on the 1910 census in Lawrence Co. AR. I found a Charles W. in Wichita Falls, TX on the 1910 census but I don't know if this is the right one or not. Although he was the right age and had the right birth place (MO). If anyone has information about these Dickey families please contact me.

I am looking for information on James Jackson Davis, my gg grandfather. He is not originally from Walnut Ridge, but came from Missouri to live there with his family in the late 1880's or early 1890's. His wife was Lucy F. Martin. His children are: Will, Franklin, Albert "Bert", Charley, James, Eva and Claudie. Lucy's death cert. says she was buried in Austin Cem. in 1923. James Jackson was listed in the 1920 census there, but on Lucy's death cert, she is listed as widow. Most of the family moved from Walnut Ridge to Sevier County around 1925. I would love to know more about James and Lucy. Thank you.

I am needing a marriage record for David J.(Jackson) Allen ( he also went by D.J. or Jack) and Arnina (she also went by Arena, Irene, Elizabeth or Lizzie) Allen or Rushing(this is her maiden name. They were first married in 1871 in Benton County, Tennessee and were later married again in Arkansas in 1896. They would have been married in either Lawrence or Randolph or Clay Counties. The first marriage was null and void once they moved out of Benton County, Tennessee. Yes, I said null and void. It was only good for as long as Arnina was a resident of the county. Any help with this would be welcome
