I'm interested in any information on Ivadale Keeble Johnson (1st Husband Millard Mack McGalliard, Jr. - 2nd husband Bill Hudson) b. 22 Mar 1927, Thomas Otto Johnson b. 6 sep 1900 m. Annie Maud Night Keeble, and his father William Johnson plus any ancestors and other kin of these folks.

My husband, William Curtis McGalliard, he goes by Curtis, was taken from his birth mother, Ivadale, when he was 5 or 6 by his father to Texas where he was raised. All he remembers is that his uncle Eb and aunt Sally had a well in their yard and he got in trouble for throwing a cat in it.

Any help is much appreciated,

Mary Lou McGalliard
David Editon Smith

David Editon Smith was living in the Horsehead Twp, Johnson Co., AR.

The middle name "Editon" is interesting. It appears on David's federal land patent.

Research and some personal documents show that David Smith is the son of James Smith. David married Sarah "Sally" Gallymore (Gallimore). They had several children in TN and AL...but so far I can only prove two: James Claiborn Smith and Sarah Ann Smith. Likely, the two boys mentioned in the 1850 census are sons as well, but could be grandsons. They were William Smith & Richard Smith.

Both Claiborn and Sarah married Grider siblings. Claiborn married Sarah Grider and Sarah Smith married William Patterson Grider. Both Griders were children of Moses Grider and Mary Powell.

I have plenty of information on the Grider family and I have quite a bit on the Smith family. What I would like to know is where they are all buried. Especially David Editon Smith.

Note: This Smith family were definitely of Cherokee Indian Heritage. David Editon Smith was a known Cherokee and he married one, Sarah Gallymore. Also, David was the son of James Smith, known among the white settlers as "Cherokee Jim Smith". Jim Smith lived in Chatanooga, TN and Northern Alabama., among his Cherokee people. Tradition has that they hid out in Northern Alabama to escape the dreaded Trail of Tears.

I would love to share information on this family. There were other Smith families in Johnson Co., AR. Could they be related?

Thanks,

Mike

I am hoping that someone may have further information on the couple above. They show on the Johnson Co. 1850 Census with the following children:

Arrabella 6 yrs. of age b. TN
Amanda E. 4 yrs. of age b. AR
Louisa1/12 yrs. old b. AR

There may have been more children born after Louisa that we are not aware of. I would like to know if anyone has information on where they were in 1860 and what Mary Ann's maiden name was. She "may" be connected to a Hendrix family, but we are not sure. They lived next to Alson and Jane Hendrix, of whom I am related, therefore, her being the right age for the daughter under 15 living in the same county in 1840 fits.

Please email me if you have any further information that you are willing to share with us.

Thank you,

SN in SC

RESEARCH - SPECULATION: Elizabeth Stewart b. 1822 virginia - Thomas Mitchell b. 1813 Tennessee

RESEARCH - SPECULATION: The following is research.
---------

................................................SPECULATION

Sometimes in genealogy research you just have to speculate. Especially in the Southern States, where Court Houses burned down, and the destruction of the Civil war. Speculation means you just don't pick names out of the blue and add them to this family or that family. You still need documentation to back up your speculations. I hope my documentation, on my speculations, will lead you to the same conclusions I came too.

I am going to speculate about an Elizabeth born in Virginia, February 2, 1822.
____________

The following 1850 & 1860 Johnson County, Arkansas censuses show a Joseph Stewart born Virginia. Because he, Joseph Stewart, was a widower in the 1860 census, I feel his age to be more correct, and have calculated his birth year, 1796, from that census. Joseph Stewart born about 1796 in Virginia, is listed as the head of his household, with three children. Elizabeth Stewart, Age 24, born Tennessee is assumed to be the wife of Joseph Stewart. There is a possibility that Joseph Stewart born Virginia, and children of his second marriage, could have also moved to Texas with the Thomas Mitchell family? A possibility that Joseph Stewart born Virginia could have died in Crawford County, Arkansas or Texas during the Civil war decade, since no Will or Guardianship Records can be found in the Johnson County, Arkansas Court House Records.

Notice the Robert M. The following 1860 census also shows one male child of the union of Joseph Stewart born Virginia, and deceased wife Elizabeth born Tennessee. This one male child of the union of Joseph Stewart and Elizabeth is Lewis Hardgrave Stewart. Hardgrave is an uncommon name for ones middle name, but it is a common surname in Johnson County, Arkansas. It is wondered if Hardgarve might be the maiden name of Elizabeth born Tennessee, second wife of Joseph Stewart born Virginia?

CENSUS: 1860 Johnson County, Arkansas census.
George M Campbell

Still looking for lineage on George M. Campbell; my ggf. He may have been born in Georgia rather than Tennessee. I think the "M" is for Monroe. He lived in Arkansas and bore children there with F. T.??. His name was misspelled as Cammell, Cambell and Candel. I think "F" may have been Florence but that's just a hunch. My grandfather named a daughter Florence T. but I don't know what the T represents. I think he lived in W.Fork Township, Washington County, Arkansas as well as Crawford County before being in Johnson County, TX in 1880. He died between 1880 and 1900. Hope to hear from someone...CaroleJanCampbell

I am searching for a lost family bible, last known to be in the hands of the Frazier family-Somewhere in Arkansas. It was in possession of Lloyd Frazier (Grandson of Isaac Newton Frazier and Gr Grandson of Harrison Frazier) The bible should have some of the following names: Jesse Williams-Nancy Caldwell, William Stephen Williams-Cordelia King, James Milton Williams-Zilpha Theodocia Frazier.
I do not wish to possess this bible, I am only interested in the information inside of the bible. This bible is the KEY to missing names in my genealogy research anyone with information please contact me. I don't know where else to go with this or who else to ask as I do not know where to even look for this bible being Lloyd Frazier passed away in 1997.
I'm researching all of the descendants of David Editon Smith and Sarah Gallymore, both Cherokees.

David & Sarah had several children. Known children: James Claiborn, John Calvin, & Sarah Ann. There was a Richard and William in the 1850 census, but it is unclear if they are sons or grandsons.

Also, there was a James Wilkinson Smith living nearby. A search of the land patent records indicated that he lived next to David.

I'm inclined to believe they are related, but am unsure just how.

I'm needing some land records researched in Johnson Co., AR and would appreciate any help whatsoever.

Would love to hear from all descendants.

I descend through Sarah Ann Smith, who married William Patterson Grider. Both were in Cooke Co., TX in 1900 living with children. But by 1910, their children's family had moved to Oklahoma and Sarah & Wiliam were not found.

Will respond to all who write me.

Mike

I am looking for anyone who may have information about the Poteet-Tackett Train thatwas one of the wagon trains involved in the 1857 massacre at Mountain Meadows, Utah. Included on the Poteet-Tackett Train were the Jones family. These families were inter-related through the female BASHAM line. MILUMS, and possibly REEDS were included. Also, looking for Miller / Sisco Trains for California in 1853 that may have travelled with the HARPS. Any info, insite, trivia, would be appreciated.
Following are the people I am related to in Johnson Co.: William J. Ross married Melissa Fraser, their daughter was Senoria C. Ross. Senoria married John F. Boley. They had several children one of them was my Grandfater, William Claude Boley. William (Claude) married Daisy Hill. Daisy's Father's name was John Hill. Her Mother's name was Cora Freeman. These folks are on my Mother'side. My paternal Grandfather was Lee Alfred Phillips. He married Etta Augusta Pierce (she died in her early twenties). Lee's parents were James F. Phillips, and Cordelia Thursetta Price. I have no other information on the Pierce's. They all resided around either Larmar, or in the Hills. (1890's - ?) Most of this group migrated either into OK, or MO. This is a tough group to research! Help!
Rejeanna

I am looking for information on a man by the name of M.H. Smelley, can anyone help me with this? M.H. Smelley is not found in any census's, yet there is a marriage license for M.H. Smelley to my Gr Gr Grandmother Zilpha Frazier. I have been looking for information on this family for a very long time and haven't been able to find out anything about them.
My Great Great Grandmother Zilpha Frazier was married first to James Milton Williams (son of William Stephen "Steve" Williams & Cordelia (King) Williams), James & Zilpha divorced before 1896, in most likely Bradley Co Arkansas. On June 3 1896 there is a marriage license for M.H. Smelley and Zilpha Frazier, this marriage was preformed by Isaac Newton Frazier, who was also Zilpha's brother. By 1910 Zilpha is back with James Milton Williams listed as his wife, in 1900 Zilpha and M.H. Smelley are not found. I do not know if there were any children associated with this marriage, if there were I have never heard of them at all.
If anyone can help me on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Kristen
mickeysmile440@comcast.net
I don't know the date of her death but it was when my dad was still a child ( he was born in 1932). If anyone has any info please let me know. Thanks!

Looking for a grave around Clarksville, possibly Sparda

My great, great, great grandfather is buried somewhere around there. His name was Cassady (could be spelled differently) -- first name Loyd, Calvin, LA, or William Calvin. It's listed differently in different records. He was a steamboats-man and died on the boat somewhere between 1870 and 1880, we believe.

If anyone has access to records for this cemetery or other cemeteries in the area or visits there, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Two older sister were listed as F.L. born 1866 and F.A. born 1868. J. Q., a younger brother was born in 1882 in Ark.
It is my understanding that there were five (5) children born to this couple some time after January 1, 1918.
It would be a great help to locate the names of these children and any other siblings that they might have had.

Thanks.
Sue Crawford
dark_elf@bellsouth.net
