Re: Martha Johnson
Janet, I received your reply from the MessageBoard, and was anxious to contact you, but since I am not a member of Ancestry.com, it would not allow me to send you a message. However, I have a friend that does have Ancestry.com and I was telling her of my difficulty, and she allowed me to post an answer to you on hers.
I was very excited to read your query, stating the info about your g-g-grandfather, Thomas Lewis. He is the brother to my g-g-g-grandfather, who was Walter. Walter named alot of his children after his siblings. He named a son Thomas, Robert A., William, Martha, etc. I wrote a book in 2003 about the Lewis & Rogers families. There is not that much about Walter's immediate familky. I need to know if you know the parentage of your Thomas and my Walter. I do know that Susannah Lewis was head of household in Ill in 1840, living near Walter. Then, in 1860, she was in Walter's household at age of 97 as Susannah Waters. Somewhere along the line, she married a John Yeatts in Ark. I know nothing of Walter's father. Please respond to my e-mail. I would appreciate any information you could send to me. I have been told that the Lewis' were Cherokee Indian, and judging from whom your Thomas married (Jane Walkingstick), looks like it is true.
Hope you have done some research on your Thomas' siblings, namely, Walter. I am not even sure who his wife was. There is a question as to who he married, from his age at the time, it seemed unprobable that he could have been married that young. Hoping to hear from you soon. Please e-mail me at ffore34357@aol.com. My phone # is (409) 935-2923. I live in Texas. Where do you reside? Thanks for any information, Frances in Texas
