Re: John F. Hill Johnson Co. AR 1820-1880
Jim,
Here is the only information I have on my gggrandfather, John F. Hill. He was born in VA in 1824. His parents were also born there. Where, I have no idea. I don't know anything about his parents or siblings. He married Labana E. ? born in N.C. 1826. Her parents were also born in N.C. Where I don't know. John and Labana had 1 son, Elick or Alexander, born ? who was killed in The War Between the States, fighting for the Union as a very young boy. They were in Indiana 1852-53, as they had 2 daughters born there, Nancy E. and Mary. They were in Iowa 1854-58, as they had 4 daughters born there. Irene, my ggrandmother, Louise, Almeda, and Adela. They were in MO in 1860, as their daughter, Narcissis was born there that year. They were in Sedalia, MO in 1864, as their daughter, Melvina was born there. They may have had older children that I am unaware of also. They were in Benton Co. MO in 1868-1875, and in Jasper Co. MO in 1880. I can't find any trace of them after that. Where or when they died, or where they are buried. However, their daughter, Melvina Hill Adams, and husband, Elijah, were in Van Buren, Ark. in 1890, as they had a daughter born there that year. Also,. their grandaughter, (Louise's daughter), Martha Stainbrook, and husband, were also in Van Buren in the same year, as their son Frank Stainbrook was born there in 1890. However, neither of these folks stayed in Van Buren. Martha and husband, came back to Galena, KS to stay, and Melvina and husband, Elijah, went on to settle in Oregon.
Thanks,
Victoria
