Jim, Please excuse my intrusion, but I have been searching for info on the right John Hill from Johnson Co. for over a year. Seems possible that your John R., age 24 may fit the bill. Do you have anything further on him after the 1880 census. My John Hill died somewhere in the l940's. He fathered a child in 1890-1891 out of wedlock. My information shows the mother to be a Cora Freeman. That child being my grandmother, Daisy Hill. Daisy was raised by Ella Pearson Seeman until her death, then by Victoria Johnson Hilderbrand Seeman and of course the husband, John Seeman.
