Thanks for your reply. Again, this is not my great-great grandfather, John F. Hill. My gggrandfather, John F. Hill was born in Va in 1824. His parents were also born there. He had at least 5 children. 1 son who was killed in the War Between the States, as a Union soldier. His name was Elick. My gggrandfather, on the other hand, was a Confederate Soldier, who was injured in the War, leaving him with a bad leg. He was living in Jasper Co. MO in 1880. His wife at that time was Labeny Hill, who was born in N.C. in 1826. Her parents were also born there. Maybe that was his only wife, I don't know. However, he had 4 daughters I know of.
Narcissus, Irene,( my ggrandmother), Louise, and Melvinia.
I can't find his military record anywhere. Seems John F. Hill is a very common name. We live so close to ARk., and I do know there were some connections in ARk., that I thought possibly that is where he enlisted. However, again thanks for your reply. I guess I'll have to keep on searching.
