My ggrandfather, Wilce O. Poteet was born in Johnson county, AR. He is the Son of George Washington Poteet, who is the son of Elijah Norman Poteet from TN. On searching his line, I need the following information.

Information on Wilce's mother, Caroline Dake, b.9 Sep 1853, Clarkesville, Johnson county, AR, died in 1900. She married George Washington Poteet 10 Jun 1871 in Johnson county. I need information on her, her father John Wesly Dake and mother, Edith Trotter.

My ggrandfather, Wilce O. Poteet, married a Lula or Lue, Willsie 3 Aug 1901, in Johnson county. They moved to CA. I have no information on Lula other than her death date. I need parents information and birth dates if someone has any information.

I have quite a bit of information on my line of Poteets if anyone is interested.

Thank you,
Loree

Hi. I have no idea if I'm in your line of Poteet's, but I found a small, pocket Bible belonging to Juanita Vivian Poteet. It was given to her on the first birthday in her marriage to Jack Poteet, by Jack. It is inscribed: 'To my Dear little wife Juanita Vivian P. Poteet. July 11, 1951.' I searched and found a Juanita Vivian Pickens born 7/11/1914 and died 1/9/96. I live in Memphis and she died in Memphis. She would have married Jack 11/23/1950 at the age of 36. She would have been 82 when she died. I also have some family photo's and none of them are marked with any information. I would love to return all of these things to a surviving relative. I was hoping to find Juanita herself and surprise her. If you know of any living relatives that might like to have this information, I'd love to get it to them. I also found a file on large model trains from places all over the US. I believe it is the Poteet's in the photographs, but they are only marked for date and location, so I'm not sure.

Thanks!

I was up in the attic again and found a Diploma from correspondence school for Jack Eugene Poteet. Finally having his middle name, I searched the SSI and he is deceased 10/10/1998. He was born 4/7/1913 in TN. So, my search is now for any children they might have had. I also have determined that the people in the train pictures are the Poteet's. There are children in the pictures also, so they might be grandchildren. If anyone has any ties to these decendant's and can put me in touch with them, I would be very thankful.

"Family 43 Trotter; A. (I couldn't decipher the handwritting) F, age 36 with Francis E,age 18, F

DAKE, HENRY, 22Y MW FARM LABOURER"

According to a Census transcription (Hanks & McLane, 1989) I have, the A. is Almeda.
David is David W.

In Mrs. Mickel's History of Johnson Co. (vol 1 1983):
p. 228 Henry Dake is on the list of Judges & Clerks for the General Election held Sept. 5, 1892.
p. 230 Henry Dake is on the list of Judges & Clerks for the General Election held Nov. 8, 1892
p. 232 D. W. Trotter was a Petit Juror for the December 1892 Circuit Court Term.
There are a number of pages with Poteet names, but none of the first names match your list.

There are 3 more volumes I do not have, but you might want to research (copies of all three are at the Butler Center (Arkansas Studies Inst., Little Rock River Market District) and at the Arkansas History Commission in Little Rock.
