I would like to add a couple of comments. First, Ressie Ballew Joslin, was my grandmother, who told myself and my 3 siblings(Blake Dukes, Andrea Gibson, and Carla Hubbard) and her numerous other grandchildren (Mary Jane Davis, Ricky Joslin, Gary Joslin) the story when we were old enough to understand. We still have the original newspaper articles from then. My mother, Linda Ray Joslin Dukes knows the story well. Also research can be done at the Jackson County Library, where we also found articles. Unfortunately, some of the information posted here is not correct therefore I recommend researching at the library or speaking to the family that is still living who my grandmother (Ressie) did share the story with, J.W.
