Mary V. MARTIN b. about 1800 married Joseph HOUSTON (HUGHSTON)who d. April 14, 1832 in Lawrence County Alabama. Mary moved back to Lincoln County, TN with her 5 children where she had married Joseph and lived for a few years before moving to Alabama. She remarried in LCT September 7, 1848 to Thomas H. McGAUGH. According to Thomas's will probated in Lincoln County, he had provided for his first wife, Cathrine, who had preceeded him in death but no mention is made of Mary. Mary McGAUGH is isted as houskeeper age 60 (this would be her age) on the Davidson County 1860 census. There was an asterick beside her name meaning she was not the only one in the household. I would like to know the other occupants of the household and pertinent information. Her father George MARTIN (supposedly a Dr.) died around 1843. According to father's will probated in Lincoln County in 1843, her siblings were: S. George MARTIN, William J. H. MARTIN, Martha J. A. Martin, Celia Ann MARTIN, Robert MARTIN, Elizabeth M. L. MARTIN, & C. K. L. MARTIN who was deceased before his father's will dated Nov. 1840. I would love any information on this branch of Martin family and Mary's date of death and burial place if possible. Thank you.

Feb 15, 1946 - Funeral of Robert P. Martin Held Saturday
Funeral services for Robert Porter Martin, aged 83, who died at his
home at Oxford, February 4, were held Saturday, with Rev. W. T. Watson of
this place in charge. Burial was at the Shaver Campground cemetery, with the
McGuire Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr Martin was a resident of this county practically all his life. He
was united in marriage in 1889 to Nancy Jane Langston, who died January 19,
1930. He was well and favorable known in this part of the county.
Surviving, are three sons, Henry of Gurdon, Ark., Cleo of Yellville,
Ark., and David Martin of Wenatchee, Wash.; and four daughters, Mrs Polly
Montgomery of Weleetks, Okla., Mrs Effie Fountain of Mindonmines (sp), Mo.,
Mrs Mary Hammett and Mrs Margaret Jones of Forty-Four, Ark.

Mrs Nancy Martin aged 57 wife of R. P. Martin at Oxford, died Jan 17,
1930. Mrs Martin had been doing chores about the place and when she came in,
said she was very cold. While warming she fell from her chair. She is
survived by her husband, three sons, Henry Martin of Calico Rock, Cleo and
David of Oxford, five daughters, Mrs Jones and Mrs Hammett of Wideman, Grace
and Effie of Oxford and Mrs Montgomery of Texas.

Miss Gracie Edith Martin, aged 45 died at her home near Wideman,
Tuesday and the funeral was held Wednesday, services being conducted by Rev.
W. T. Watson. The McGuire Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial
took place at Shaver Campground.

Life-Long Oxford Resident Dies
W. M. Martin, aged 92 years, 6 months, and 4 days, died at his home in
Oxford on Sunday, June 17, 1956.
W. M. was a retired merchant and a Methodist. He is survived by two
sons, Joe of Washington and Tom of Shawnee, Okla.; three daughters, Mrs. H. B.
Tatum of the home, Mrs. L. S. Rowden of West Plains and Mrs. Dick REEVES of
Melbourne, 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 8 great great
grandchildren.

Feb 15, 1946 - Funeral of Robert P. Martin Held Saturday
Funeral services for Robert Porter Martin, aged 83, who died at his
home at Oxford, February 4, were held Saturday, with Rev. W. T. Watson of
this place in charge. Burial was at the Shaver Campground cemetery, with the
McGuire Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr Martin was a resident of this county practically all his life. He
was united in marriage in 1889 to Nancy Jane Langston, who died January 19,
1930. He was well and favorable known in this part of the county.
Surviving, are three sons, Henry of Gurdon, Ark., Cleo of Yellville,
Ark., and David Martin of Wenatchee, Wash.; and four daughters, Mrs Polly
Montgomery of Weleetks, Okla., Mrs Effie Fountain of Mindonmines (sp), Mo.,
Mrs Mary Hammett and Mrs Margaret Jones of Forty-Four, Ark.

said she was very cold. While warming she fell from her chair. She is

Life-Long Oxford Resident Dies
W. M. Martin, aged 92 years, 6 months, and 4 days, died at his home in
Oxford on Sunday, June 17, 1956.
W. M. was a retired merchant and a Methodist. He is survived by two
sons, Joe of Washington and Tom of Shawnee, Okla.; three daughters, Mrs. H. B.
Tatum of the home, Mrs. L. S. Rowden of West Plains and Mrs. Dick REEVES of
Melbourne, 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 8 great great
grandchildren.
