Well I haven't been over the seas with the Gwin's or Brewers. However, the Gwin's were in
South Carolina as early as 1808. If I have this correct,
Garland Gwinn married Wilma Emaline Camp. Garland's parents are Frank
Gwinn and Martha Lenora
Brewer. Martha Brewer's parents are John
Brewer and Martha J. (last name unknown). Frank Gwin's parents are L. H. Gwinn and Sarah M. (last name unknown). Both L. H. and Sarah are buried in New Hope Cemetery,
Grant Co., AR.
L. H. Gwin may be the son of Jeptha and Susan
Gwin. Jeptha is listed in the 1850 Census,
York Co.,SC: Jeptha 40, Susan 30,
Judson O. 10,
Littleton H. 8, Thomas 6, Mary 4, Susan 2.
1860 Census,
York Co., SC is: Jeptha 52, Susan, 36, O. Judson 19, L. H. 17, T. A. (Thomas) 15, Mary 13, L. S. (Susan) 12, J. D. 8, and M. A. 4
1870 Census: There is a
Hartwell Gwin 27 in
Drew Co., Arkansas, with wife Sarah 24 and son Robert 1, all born in
South Carolina.
1880 Census: L. H. is in
Dallas Co., Arkansas with wife Susan, sons, Robert, Ross, Frank, Jeptha, and daugher Eveline.
L. H. (name may be
Littleton Hartwell Gwin) died 19 October 1894 according to his headstone. I am a little confused though, Sarah is listed in the 1900
Grant Co. Census as being the mother of 4 children with 4 living. According to my research she is the mother of nine children.
The oldest
Brewer I have is: Harvey (1822-1898) born in
Alabama and married Lucy Paralee
Edmondson.
