My husband is a descendant of Dr. Harris Chapman Stockton. What is the source of your information that his first wife was Martha Melton? According to all information we have found, his first wife was Martha Gillespie, daughter of John Gillespie and Elizabeth Koontz. They married 13 August 1840 in Itawamba Co., MS. Moved into Saline (now Grant Coo., AR, in early 1850s.

Years ago I did not document my source for the marriage of Martha Melton. With further research I see you are correct.
