Samuel Price Carson burial site

I'm helping someone locate the cemetery and gravesite of Samuel Price Carson. He lived 1798 - 1838, was involved in Texas and US politics. All the references to his burial say he was buried in the Government Cemetery, Hot Springs, Ark, but no one seems to know what cemetery that is. Can anyone help? Thanks Linda

Molsie/Molsey, b. 1872 GA and Argy/Arcos REYNOLDS in GA & AR

I’m searching for Molsie J (Molsey) Bishop Reynolds. According to a Terrell County Georgia newspaper article Molsie J Bishop married Argy Reynolds about 1888. Molsie was born abt 1872 in Georgia to Marshal H and Sarah E Bishop. I have the 1880 Terrell County census. I can not find an Argy Reynolds anywhere. I did find today the 1910 census records for what looks like an Arcos/Argos and Molsie Reynolds in Hot Springs, Arkansas and the 1920 for a Molsie J (widowed) in Hot Springs. The info seems to fit. Can anybody help with any more info?

I am searching for information on my Grandfather, Captain Garland (1865-1924). Captain was his name not a military title. He was born in Tazewell (Claiborne Co.) Tn. According to the 1860 Census he lived with Elizabeth Garland - spinster, as well as his brother Hiram. From 1870 to 1900 he lived and worked on the farm of Isaac and Jane Reese. They evidently took him in when he was very young. In 1906 he married Ellen Turner and moved to Middlesboro KY and fathered 6 children. He lived in Hignite Hollow near a much youger brother Andy. However, neither knew who their parents were. We were told Captain was part Indian?? ANY info on parents or other relatives would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

The reunion will be in Allen, Oklahoma on June 21, 2008 at the Masonic Hall directly across the street from the Senior Center on Broadway.

This is our 30th year since moving the reunion from, Arkansas to Allen, Oklahoma this is a major milestone for the reunion and the change to a new generation.

We would love to have all Woodall family members to come to the reunion this year.

We like to you come and bring your family members and have a day of fun. There are so many of us out in AR, TX, LA and may more states...

Leroy was raised by Johnie and Maggie Shoults. Martine was murdered by a husband/boyfriend 1945-1955. James may have been mixed race and was reported adopted.

Pittman Hotel

I've heard that my ancestors had a hotel in Garland County around 1900 or so. The family name is Pittman. They settled in Mill Township. My Great Great Grandfather's name was Newit W. Pittman. He had several sons including a Dr. Henry T. Pittman (1885-1915). My Great Grandfather was another son, Lewis Pittman (1865-1962). I have a photo of the Pittman Hotel, but I need specific information about its location and if it was really owned by the above mentioned families.

I am seeking the obituary for James Alvin Anderson; born November 17, 1895, in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas; died February 23, 1954, in Garland County, Arkansas, and buried in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Initially, James Alvin Anderson was married to Thelma Sellers. This marriage produced two children: James Anderson and Wanda Lou Anderson. James Alvin and Thelma divorced sometime between 1930 and 1934.

Thelma later married Paul Childs, and James Alvin married J. Bernice (according to James' cemetery headstone).

The obituary and any other info are GREATLY appreciated.

Since last querry I found that he is Edgar Lindley Cotton, married Susan Emma Forbes. Children were William L 1893, Benjamine R 1895, Clyda 1900, Tana 1903, Augusta 1905 ( who married a Flemming but was a widow on the 1920 census with no children), Minus or Minns ca 1908. I know they moved to Treat because that is what Ben listed as his residence on his WWII draft registration card and he worked for his father at the E.L.Cotton Stove Company in Treat. I guess there is no more Treat as I have tried googling it and nothing shows up. Can anyone help me out?

I am looking for any information regarding William and Katherine McGill. I know that they lived on a farm west of Hot Springs on October 18, 1866 when their oldest son, Alfred Benjamin (A.B.) my great-great grandfather, was born. They died and left AB and his 6 siblings (Molly, Billy, Ada, Jake, and Katie-possibly Dora and Florida) orphans, to be raised by AB.
I have found records that indicate Katherine was born 9/23/1846 in Jackson Co. AL and died in 1/1884. Other than that, I have hit a brick wall. I am curious as to the cause of death, and any information regarding Williams birth place, burial place, and parents. Thank you in advance!

My gggrandfather was William Andrew Jones. He was born January 2, 1867 and died March 17, 1932 in Hot Springs, Ar. I have recently received a leather money pouch of my gggrandfather's. It was from Arkansas Trust Company. The lettering on the pouch if very difficult to read. So far I can read the name of the company, Capital $100,000 and Hot Springs, Ark. I thought maybe the line I cannot read is an address. Can anyone tell me where this trust company was located? Thank you for any help with this question.

My Roy McLANE was born May 29, 1881 in Missouri, the son of Finis Ewing McLANE & Matilda Florence WYNN. He lived and worked in Kansas City, Missouri and then moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. He married in Hot Springs & lived there until his death.

Walter was born 7-10-1898 and he died Dec 1972. SSDI says last benefits paid were in Garland County, Ark, so maybe he died there.

Since Hollywood Cemetery is the oldest in Garland County and we know that John M. help finding info on William P. Cozart?

Hello, I did a search and found nothing, so I figured I'd ask. Through Garland County cemetery records I have been able to trace several ancestors back to Aldridge Cemetery there. The oldest ancestor that I can find that is buried there is William David Cozart, who was married to Sarah Caroline Parker.

In the records I found, it says that William David Cozart was the son of William P. Cozart and Elizabeth Ashley. That is where the road has stopped for me. I can't seem to find anything on William P. Cozart, not even what the P. stood for.

I'm wondering if anyone here would know anything, or at least be able to point me in a direction. If so, it would be very much appreciated! I am 28 years old and the 6th generation down the line from William P. Cozart. Curiosity has gotten the better of me and I'm very interested to follow genealogies back to see where I'm from.

John and Pearl Campbell Alabama to Garland Co. Arkansas 1910

Looking for information on John A. Campbell who married Pearl (last name unknown). Their children were Jewell, Mildred, Gladys and Eloise.

John and Pearl were both originally from Alabama and their children were born there. John was born sometime around 1880 and died between 1910 and 1920. Pearl (born 1882) is listed in the Garland County, Arkansas - Hot Springs - 1920 census as a widow with son, Jewell, daughters Gladys and Mildred, and Mildred's husband, Jesse Kluczewicz(sp?)

My grandmother's photos (In Talladega County, Alabama) included several of this family. I know they were kin, but am not sure just how. My great great grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Campbell who married John H. Norred. John Campbell could have been kin to her. However, my great grandmother, Beulah Hagan, who married Dink Norred, had a sister named Pearl. I don't know anything about Pearl Hagan, so the Pearl who married John A. Campbell could be her.

There are two John Campbell's of the right age in the Talladega/Clay County, Alabama areas in 1900 which is a year or so before John and Pearl married. Either could be this John Campbell. One was kin to Mary Elizabeth Campbell, the other lived down the street from Pearl Hagan. I've not located a marriage record for this couple, yet.

Jewell H. Campbell married Bessie Delaughter, 27 November 1930 in Garland County, Arkansas

The more I search, the more questions I come up with. It'd be nice to find an answer.

The Rev W.G. Hilton performed the marriage ceremony for my Great Grandparents Rev. W.A. Fitzgerald of Point Cedar and Louise Jane Dillard of Amity, AR. The ceremony took place on Sept. 11, 1879. I think the ceremony may have been at the old Westlyan Chapel Methodist Church at Point Cedar but I have no real evidence of that. I'm trying to trace Rev. W.G. Hilton in hopes that I can learn at which church he may have been a minister. I know that my Great Grandmother Louisa may have attended the old Bethel Baptist Church near Glenwood, AR but one of her sisters and a brother (I think) were members of the Wesleyan Chapel Methodist Church. She met W.A. Fitzgerald when she attended church with her sister in 1878 or 79.

I'm looking for any informaiton on this man and his family. My great grandmother was Mattie U Cotton and she had an older brother E.L.B. Cotton listed as being born 1855 Kentucky. They migrated through Arkansas on their way to Kansas where the rest of the family settled,. My grandmother married Joel T Hampton and stayed in Arkansas. Garland is farther south from where GG mattie lived but it is a start. His first son was names William R, and he had a brother William R and, as families tended to use the same names, I am hoping this is the right Cotton relative.

I have just found out today that I have a great-granduncle that was a Woodsmen Of the World. His name was William FINK
and he is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas. I just received an e-mail with the inscription of the stone. The gentleman (through Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness) that sent the inscription is going to take a picture for me. I am so excited. I have been doing genealogy for about 5 years and could find nothing on this relative except birth date and death date. I found him in the 1880-1910 censuses, with wife and children. I was about to give up on him when this kind man found a good bit of stuff for me.
My question, are there any old records in Garland Co. on this organization and how do I get access to them?

I tried several years ago to contact the headquarters in Omaho because I too felt the company could give me some information on a great uncle who has a Woodman of the World tombstone, but the company wasn't a bit helpful. The lady answering the phone said they did have old records, but they did not give out info for genealogy research. Said the records were in a basement and they had no one in the company to go and look through old records. I gave up.

The brochure that I have indicates that it was 3½miles from Hot Springs, the owner was Garland Anthony and manager Elmer Phillips. Help!! I am in the beginning stages of looking into our family history. My great grandfather was John W Tallent (Talent) (they seem to spell it both ways). His father, Wick Caudell Tallent (changed his name from Caudell), and mother, Sarah Tallent, are buried in what I was told was called "Forked Mtn" in Hollis, AR. I have a 1963 copy of a photo of their headstone and cannot read the dates of birth or death or even the full names. I would love some help with this or info on where I can find out some information....

I am lost because much of the family changed their names to several different things...including Caudell, Tallent, Combs, etc.

Trying to find the land that my g.g.grandfather "let go back to taxes". Family story says that he had some land in Hot Springs, but returned to Lincoln County and let the land go. I have a great-grandmother, MARY DELEINE (or Delina) COOPER, b. about 1866 in Wisconsin. She married GEORGE H. PEARSON on July 23, 1888, in Lancaster, WI.

Great Grandmother PEARSON'S father was born in England and her mother was born in Rockford, IL.

If this is my great-grandmother, I have no idea when she moved to Hot Springs, nor do I know if she died there or had any relatives living there.

I am looking for a John, Thomas or possibly Alfred TUCKER that might have been living in Arkansas before 1845. The Tucker I am looking for might have married an Elizabeth Badeau from LA or MS. At one time we thought we had them connected to Jane Humphry, but that is not correct.
John Jefferson Tucker was born in 1845 in McComb, MS, the son of the above query.J.J. Tucker married (in 1875) Anneta Whitcomb of Covington St. Tam., LA. JJ. and Anetta named one of their sons, Thomas Brinsfield Tucker. There might be a Brinsfield connection. We are having a devil of a time finding out about his parentage.
