Classification: Query
Surnames: BEARD, CLARK, GALLEHER,
Mary ‘Eliza’ Beard was born August 18, 1855 in probably Mulberry, Franklin County, of Arkansas and died died in March 08, 1900 in Bald Knob, White County, Arkansas - married James Harrison Clark born August 20, 1840 Saltillo, Hardin County, Tennessee and died August 06, 1916 in Bald Knob, White County, Arkansas - both are buried in Shady Grove Cemetery, Bald Knob, Arkansas - they married October 13, 1887 in probably Mulberry, Crawford County, Arkansas. They had no issue.
Her parents were: John G. Beard born 1823 in South Carolina and died March 1860 in Prairie Township, Arkansas County, Arkansas; married Jane Jamima ‘Galleher’ born August 08, 1818 in South Carolina and died May 14, 1886 in Franklin County, Arkansas and is buried in Rankin Cemetery, Lone Elm, Franklin County, Arkansas – they married about 1840 in Southern Division, Marshall, Mississippi (and were still there in the 1850 Census, listed right after Alexander Beard). John and Jane had 10 children and Jane was left on her own with several young children when he died 26 years before her (Mary Eliza would have been age 5) – Jane probably lived next door to John’s brother Daniel, who probably helped the family. On July 10, 1860 John G. Beard acquired 80 acres in Arkansas County – his death date may have been after that – perhaps he signed his will in March of 1860. Mary Eliza in the 1870 Census was 15 and lived in Crockett’s bluff with Dave Beard (an uncle perhaps?), a farmer and 3 of her siblings. Mary Eliza is shown on the 1880 census living with her widowed mother and 3 grown siblings – her 2 brothers doing the farmwork.
Any further help with this family would be appreciated,
