Ira Dopsy Elizabeth WARD was born July 31, 1893 in Ozark (Franklin Co.), AR. Need to find her (my g-grandmother) on a birth certificate or census record that shows her parents' names. Have no other info on her...no siblings info. Was told that her father was a cattleman, that they traveled a lot and had lived in TX along the gulf at one time. Thank you!

Could you please tell us
1) Who, when and where she married?
2) When and where did she die and where is she buried?

Do you have a copy of her death certificate and obituary?

1) Elizabeth married (the first time) Albert "Marvin" ARMSTRONG on Sep 10, 1910 in Ozark, AR.
The 2nd time, she married a TAYLOR. Don't know when or where, but she was up in years and her children (and Marvin's) were all grown. She had no children with TAYLOR.

2) Not certain on her date of death. Will need to get back with you on that. But she died in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, and is buried (I believe) in the Crowder, OK cemetery.
I don't have a copy of her death certificate or obit. My grandmother may, but she is in a nursing home and may not know where to find it.

Thanks for your help!

Your first step is to find out her exact date of death. You can do this from the tombstone, or from a death index or obituary index.

Then you should obtain, for your own records, a copy of her death certificate and obituary. The death certificate can be gotten from that state's Department of Vital Records or it might be called the Department of Health. The obituary can be obtained from the library in the town/county where she died, from their newspapers on microfilm.

These two documents can answer a lot of questions and pinpoint a lot of details that you do not yet have.

Once you have those, it will then be easier to find her siblings and parents.

What's your source for her name ?
I note you have part of it as "Dopsy"
The marriage license says "Doxie" which should be a diminuative for "Eudoxia"

Elizabeth was my mother's maternal grandmother. My mother told me her name was Ira Dopsy Elizabeth. And I found her name on the following web site.

Where did you find her marriage license? Is it online somewhere?

Thank you.

Gencircles is only as good as the people who post there. It is open to anyone to post including people who do not do very good research. So it cannot be used as a primary source.

However the marriage licenses have been transcribed by Virginia McPhail from the original marriage books kept in the courthouse and published. I have that book and that's where I found the marriage.

If you are serious about your hobby, you should write to the courthouse to get a photostatic copy of that marriage license. It may give you more information.
