"George Dave Tucker
Dave Tucker, pioneer resident of this section of Oklahoma, died at the Waurika hospital Tuesday afternoon at 5:30. He had been ill for about two weeks with a lung condition from which he suffered intense pain. He was brought to the hospital Monday afternoon for further treatment and aid, but died a few hours later.
Farewell services were from the Worley Chapel Thursday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Virgil Trout, pastor of the Waurika Church of Christ. Interment was in the family plot of the Waurika cemetery.
George Dave Tucker, the son of William Jefferson and Luvica Ogden Tucker, was born July 28, 1876, in Franklin county, Ark. When a year old he came with his parents to Texas, living near Hillsboro. After a short stay in Texas the family listened to the lure of Indian Territory and moved into the Atlee community. Here he grew up and later was associated with his father in the mercantile business at Sugden.
He was married to Miss Julia Porter at Ryan May 14, 1901 and in 1907 they came to Waurika, their home having been in and near this place since.
For the past several years they have lived on a farm a few miles from Waurika and it was here that he was stricken with his last illness.
He is survived by Mrs. Tucker, two daughters and a son. They are Mrs. Ruby Hedges, Ardmore, Mrs. Gladys Asbury, Wichita Falls and Jeff D. Tucker, Oklahoma City. All of them were here for the funeral services.
There are also two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Other survivors include a brother and four sisters: Jeff Tucker, Ceres, Calif.; Mrs. Nannie Ades and Mrs. Ella White, Pomona, Calif.; Mrs. Jeff Hunter and Mrs. C. H. Davidson of Oklahoma City. The California members of the family could not be here for the funeral services.
Dave Tucker was converted and joined the Church of Christ in 1897. He has been a good husband, father, neighbor and friend through the long years allotted him here."
