Surnames: CUDE, BYRD/BIRD, GILES, HORNER
Ok...apparently, I hadn't had the required amount of sleep when I replied. The Eliza J. Cude I spoke of did NOT marry Robert Byrd. Sorry for the confusion.
Eliza married James May Giles. It's on the same side of my family just a different line. Eliza is related to the Byrds through the marriage of her son. She and Robert Byrd were in laws. Sorry again for the mistake.
But, it still shows a connection between the Byrds and Cudes -- both coming from the same area of Tennessee and ending up in the same area of Arkansas & then in my case, ending up in the same area of Texas.
Clement Cude (father of Eliza) -- I do have his birthdate in 1837. But, info given to me shows his mother as Mary Lydia Horner, not Mary Bird -- that is not firm, however. I have seen lots of confusion in this area & don't really know which is right. Unfortunately, the people I have spoken to have been unable to give sources for their info.
The dates I have for Eliza are as follows:
B. Dec 5, 1860, Franklin Co., Arkansas
D. Dec 6, 1935, Sanger, Denton Co., Texas -- Sanger Cemetery
M. Bet. 1878 - 1879, Pilot Grove, Grayson Co., Texas
Sorry again for the mix-up earlier. Let me know if I can give you any more info (I'll do my best to get it right :-) ) Also, I would love to see any more info you have on the Cudes.
