I've been trying to track down Artress R Shadoway. It seems like most information in others trees are just copies of copies, i.e. born around 1836 and died around 1889.
Unfortunately for me, I'm a direct descendant but don't seem to know any more then anyone else. I've been picking my grandmother's brain the past couple of days and have been able to attach some information. However, I still don't have too much.
Everyone has said he was a doctor, but there is no one we know of who has seen a medical license for him. There's been stories that he may have changed his name at some point in his youth. That could explain why no one can find him on a census.
Here's the info that I have received from my grandmother who still lives in Arkansas (Faulkner County). I'm trying to find out more. She has some papers and so does my mother who lives in that area as well.

A. R. Shadoway (possibly spelled Shadaway)
Applied for marriage license in Conway, Faulkner Co, AR on 23 Jan 1879.
Marriage License
A. R. Shadaway of Little Rock, Pulaski Co., AR and Blyson Ann Hawkins of Muddy Bayou Township, Faulkner Co, AR 23 Jan 1879.
A. R. was Age 43 yrs, Blyson Age 29 years.
Certificate of Marriage
Faulkner Co. AR
A.R. Shadaway and Blyson Ann Hawkins were on this day 28 day of January 1879 filed in Faulkner Co, AR.

Born about 1836 place ? came to Arkansas from New Orleans. Died after or about 1879.
Married Lablithen Ann Hawkins (don't know where Lablithen came from, never have seen info anywhere before)
He lived in Little Rock, Pulaski Co, AR she lived at Muddy Bayou Township, Faulkner Co. near Mt Vernon. They lived at Pinewoods, Cleburn Co, AR. He must have lived at or near Lead Hill or Peel, AR for he treated my great grandmother when she was sick who lived there. He was a medical doctor. Was said to be a good doctor, He and Lablithen (Called just Blithen, some called her Aunt Pudd).
Children were:
Latitia Ann (Called Tish)
Lenora (Called Nora)
Alvino (CAlled Vino)
Lue Ella (just called Lue)
Calvin "Bud" Archie - died a young boy or man.
Archie R was a Cherokee Indian full blood I've been told, but some one said no maby half. He had some children who showed Indian quite a bit.
