Clyne,
I'd about given up on finding anything about Mary Tucker! This has got to be the same one - research done by a cousin of mine, shows George & Mary in the 1870 census Cross Co. AR with a 2 yr. old son, J. W. HOLT. I need to see the actual census, because he doesn't mention a daughter. She may have died, or she's listed and he just missed it.
I have George HOLT married Mary Tucker on Mar 16 1867 in Cross Co. AR. They were married by John C. McElroy, Justice of the Peace. (AR, Cross Co. book A-26) I've found the Holts and the McElroys to be related, and have a bit on the McElroy family.
I suppose Mary may have died young. Her mother, Martha P. Swink Tucker, remarried after my g-g-grandfather's death to an unknown HOLT between the 1860 census and 1862. They had one daughter, Maranda Catherine HOLT born abt 1862. This Mr. HOLT seems to have died (possibly in the Civil War) before 1870. I don't suppose you have another HOLT in the Wynne area about then?
Who was your g-grandfather? Thanks for your help. You've given me a new spark on this branch of the family!
Linda
