Hi, Cindy,
I knew Samuel Tilden Cropper as "Uncle Sam". My father was a son of Huston S. Cropper. Obviously, I also trace my family from William Albert.
Without checking my records, I believe that the maiden name of Martha Jane Cropper was Russell. She was born in Scotland in 1850. I wish I knew where. The family appeared to have the tendency to give the males the maiden name of various grandmothers. It is a Gaelic quirk. My father's middle name was Russell.
The boys in my father's family married Browns, Shrables, Rowletts, and a few others. In fact, the wife of Austin Cropper and my mother were cousins.
Sorry to blather so much, but is exciting to find someone in my direct line rather than that of the Maryland Croppers.
Thanks for the contact and I would love to hear more from you.
