I found the following in the Walker County, Texas, deed records:

"State of Texas, Walker County
Know all men by these presents that I WATSON REED SR in consideration of the sum of five dollars to me paid do hereby transfer and convey to my son WATSON REED JR he binding himself to take care of and support myself and my family so long as we should live, all my Goods, Lands, Chattels and effects that I possess in Texas LA or ARK, including all notes accounts claims, also a house and lot and stock of groceries in the Town of GORDON CLAIBORNE PARISH LA also all stock including hogs, horses, cattle, sheep &c farming utensils and all other property that I possessed and may not be named herein -- Signed and delivered in Walker County, Texas on the 19th day of April 1866. In witness hereof I have set my hand and seal. Watson REED." [Walker County, Texas, Deed Book F, pp. 450-451]

I have noticed that there was a WATSON REED family in Columbia and Union Counties, Arkansas.

I would like to correspond with anyone who might know something about the WATSON REED family. Shadrich REED, who was born in CLAIBORNE PARISH, LA, and who was living in Walker County, TX, when the above deed was filed may have been a relative.
