Surnames: Harris, Bailey, Thomas, Hill, Dread, Smith, Albright,Eason
The five free people of color were: Solomon Harris, Marshall Harris, Quincey Harris, John Harris and Van Dread, Sr
This was according to the Freeman's Bureau. Solomon Harris was born around 1795 in Virginia. He came to Columbia County with Samuel Harris and his family around 1847. Solomon Harris was my great great great great grandfather.
