May I ask, where is Lanty?
Still being in high school at 19-20 years of age means nothing in that day and time except someone wanted him to graduate from high school. Circumstances made the difference.
My own daddy was 20 when he graduated but the schoolhouse had burned and then he decided to quit, so he was put to plowing 40 acres of new ground with a team of mules, and he went back to school to graduate.
The real reason I am responding to your posting is that my great grandfather was Joseph Benjamin Adams was from the Cleveland County area. He was born in Macon, Georgia and came to Arkansas when the Civil War ended with his parents, a William Adams and his wife Mary Rodgers Adams. Later, he and his brother James left and went to England in Lonoke County which is north of Pine Bluff.
There were at least two brothers left behind in the general area of Cleveland/Jefferson County. Would that be any of yours?
Linda
