I follow all the descendants of Christian Geiger who immigrated in 1737 from the Palantinate.

Benjamin Pettit was the son of Zachariah Taylor Pettit and Sarah Weems. Sarah Weems was a descendant of Christian Geiger.

Benjamin was living with his father and stepmother in the 1900 census (Davis Township, Van Buren County, Arkansas) noted as a widower.

I have found on numerous occasions that a man will say he is a widower rather than admit he is divorced.

Did you locate your great-grandmother in the 1900 census? Did she re-marry before 1900?

Would you mind giving me her maiden name?

I did not find Benjamin in Ancestry.com's 1920 census index.
