I am SO interested in communicating with you! My great grandmother, Leora Greer, lived with my mother, Leora Alice Silvertooth Sweaney, in Knobel, Arkansas until I was 10 years of age. My great grandmother passed away in 1962 and I was sent to live with my cousin, Charles Woodford Cox, in Corning. He was Leora Greer's grandson. My grandmother, Viola Greer Silvertooth, passed away before I was born. She had one sister, Clyda Greer Cox, and one brother - I believe is name was "Barney" Greer. He and his family lived in Indianapolis.

I know a bit about my history but not a whole lot. Hoping you can fill me in.

You said something about the Arbuckle family. I remember going to an Arbuckle family reunion when I was about 5 years of age. I believe it was in Kentucky.

Please tell me how you are related to Leora Greer.

This is so exciting for me to hear from you. I live in Little Rock, Arkansas. Have two grown daughters, ages 34 and 30, and one grandchild, aged 11.

I look forward to hearing from you again. Thanks so much. Ellen

Cousin Rhonda and others interested,
William E. Moore b. Apr 1855 KY
Permela Pentecost Moore b. Jun 1858 TN
Children:
Harvey Moore b.Jul 1877 TN
Mary Ellen Moore b. Jan 1880 TN
James Moore b. Sep 1882 MO (but you have Clay Co., AR--right?)
Lizzie Moore b. Mar 1888 MO
Minnie Moore b. Jan 1889 MO
Laura F. Moore b. Aug 1895 MO

That was per the 1900 USFedCen and that also enumerated Permela Moore as having been married 26 years and having produced 10 children with these 6 alive. Moore family was in Howell Co., MO but Mary Ellen Moore had already married Frederick C. Bowers and they had 3 year old dau Ella in AR, Clay (Co.), Cashe (Twp.),Knobel town. Don't know whether Ella made it to adulthood or not. She was not shown with the Bowers family in 1920 but could have already been married.

Would like to compare notes again to see if either of us has found anything new?!!!!!
Cherylene (and cousin, Ronda!) HI!
Would you believe I have just now found these posts. I had been working on putting more information in about this Bowers family and finally connecting with your postings!

Here is the last that I located on this family from the 1930 USFedCen AR, Clay (Co.), Kilgore (Twp.),Corning city
Ln98/807/243/252
BOWERS, Fred head r 8 n mw 56<1874>m@22 ny AR NC NC Barber B
BOWERS, Mary wife fw 50<1880>m@16 ny TN TN TN
BOWERS, Brante son mw 26<1904>m@25 ny AR AR TN Barber
Ln1/807/243/252
BOWERS, Velvia d-i-l fw 24<1906>m@24 ny AR U.S. MI
BOWERS, Charles son mw 19<1911>s yy AR AR TN
BOWERS, Pauline dau fw 13<1917>s yy AR AR TN
BOWERS, Mabel dau fw 8<1922>s y AR AR TN
WRIGHT, Marion s-i-l mw 30<1900>m@25 ny AR U.S. KY Lbr
WRIGHT, Florence dau fw 30<1900>m@25 ny AR AR TN

Cherylene, unfortunately, I have never been able to connect with the lady that was traveling to Turkey. I do hope there wasn't problems. I'm very sorry that we have never gotten more info about the family. Would love to know more about this family from anyone that has information. Current: bpc4u@sbcglobal.net

I do remember that she had told me that both Fred and Mary Bowers had moved to a place called Lone Pine on the western side of AR (forgotten the county) and they had died there but were brought back to Corning to be buried. I don't recall without my other notes which cemetery they are in.

Mary Moore Bowers was eldest sister of my g gm Minnie Moore Brashear who died very young in childbirth with her 5th child, I believe it was. My g gp lived in Oregon Co., MO.
Thanks very much for your postings, Cherylene. Do appreciate it!
Beth
There appears to be a Stratton connection to the Barks.
1887 A G Stratton age 19 dob abt. 1869 married William Steel age 21 dob abt. 1866. Marriage date 11/30/1867, marriage location Butler Co., MO (I found their names in Index Book 2, but I did not find the record in Book 2).
1889 James Charles Stratton married Mary Condra (or Condray) 2/11/1889 in Carter Co., MO
1896 Oliver Lee Stratton born in Elsinore, Carter Co, MO, F. No documentation found.
1921	Oliver Lee Stratton married Maud Johnson 7/16/1921. Marriage Location: Morehouse, New Madrid, MO. Marriage County: Mississippi. Oliver Lee dob abt. 1897, Maud dob abt. 1893.
1930 Oliver Lee and Maud Stratton in St. Louis, MO Census
1936	Death of Artie C. Steel, Widow of Bill Steel, b TN 5/25/1966 F. Jim Stratton, d 2/24/1936. Informant: Sadie Bates (?). Died at Naylor, Ripley Co., MO, buried at Macadonia Cemetery. Also buried at Macadonia is Wm Steele, husband of A G Steele.
1937	Homer Everett Stratton married Maxine Boswell of Kennett, MO. Marriage location: Piggott, Clay Co., AR
1984	Oliver Lee Stratton died 12/1/1984. No useful info on the death certificate except that he is a widow and dob stated as 12/26/1894.
While I have not found proof positive that Oliver Lee is the son of James Charles Stratton, it is logical to assume since both were in Carter County, James Charles getting married and Oliver Lee born. I have not found a clue to what happened to Mary Condray. There were several Condrays in Carter County and many records of their burial, but I did not find Mary Condra(y) Stratton buried there or anywhere.
It appears that Arta Stratton Steel moved to Clay Co., AR shortly after her husband died in Ripley County, MO. Was Charlie already there? Or were there other family members there? The Steels are on the 1920 and 1930 census records in Cleburne Co., AR with John L. listed as head of the household and Artie C. is included. Why was she living at Naylor, Ripley Co., MO at the time of her death?
1906	I found a record of the marriage of Artie Steel, age 38, and Robert Jacobs, age 37, on 12/30/1906 in Marriages 1881-1907 Clay County, AR. I also found a Robert Jacobs on the 1900 Clay Co., AR Census. He was single, age 30, born MO/TN/TN and was listed in the HH with his brother Thomas, age 38, Laura, age 31, and Andrew J., age 11. I can find no other record of Robert Jacobs. Did Artie Stratton Steel remarry and if so what happened to Robert before the 1910 Census? And why is she buried as Artie C. Steele?
