Classification: Query
Surnames: Bird, Byrd, Crowder, Hosea, Brown, Chadwick, Shadwick
I've finally gotten proof that I am related to Ola S. Crowder and in the process have gotten some info a cousin on Ola's marriages. I thought you might find it interesting.
The cousin writes: "Ola S. Crowder's husband, John B. Hosea, went back to Tennessee [from Arkansas] and Ola thought he was dead so she married Albert Byrd [Bird], only to learn a month later that [John] was still alive and he sent her a letter threatening to kill Albert if she didn't leave him, which she did. Later she divorced [John] and married Joe F. Brown and raised her family by him. (This was told to me by Albert's oldest daughter by his first wife.)"
It's a great story and it clears things up a bit.
Also, I've got another BIRD query for you. Page 16 of the 1880 census for Chalkbluff, Clay County, Arkansas has my Chadwick/Shadwick line. Lower on the same page I noticed that there is a Sarah BIRD and family (children: John A., Asa, Nancy M., Elizabeth, Sarah, Benjamin, and Amandy). I was curious if this family was part of your BIRD line, as well.
