Hi Carolyn,

December 8, 1922
Marriage licenses issued recently by Deputy Clerk Ratcliffe, at Corning, for Western district Clay County:
Samuel Dressendorfer,23, and Miss Dovie Pernell, 18, Success.

March 13, 1925
Mager News...Among the patrons of Mager publis school are: Ed Dressendorfer

The 1919-1920 item "Success boy killed" There was no mention of a Dressendofer, so I didn't write it down. It was about a boy from Success named Bill Pugh who was killed in Germany during the war. Do you still want it?

I hope this helps
Adriana

Could you possible look to see if the newspaper carried an
article regarding my g-grandfather's death?
His name is John William Baty and he died March 24, 1924 in a construction accident while working in Detroit, MI. His wife (Mary Ann Baty) was living in Piggott (Clay Co.) at the time. His body was brought back to Piggott for burial. Appreciate any info.

Hi Mary Jo,
There was no listing of him in it, but then this paper was from Corning. You might want to try the library in Piggott, to see if they have that year for the piggott newspaper.

I was born Autumn Dressendofer. I am related to the Dressendofer's who originally settled in Seymour, Indiana in 1845. They were from Germany. There is an Ed and a Dora in my family tree. Are these the same people that you are referring to? I would love to compare notes. My email is Autumn406@cox.net

Hi Adriana,
In your reply to the other person I seen you mention this....

The 1919-1920 item "Success boy killed" There was no mention of a Dressendofer, so I didn't write it down. It was about a boy from Success named Bill Pugh who was killed in Germany during the war.

If you get this post could you please tell me what it shows about this Bill Pugh? Only when you have the time please.

Thank You,

Theresa

Clay County Courier Newspaper 1919-1920

Feb. 21,1919
Success Boy Killed

Frank See is in receipt of a letter from across the sea. It was written by Charles Pace of Corning and bears the date of Jan. 23, and was written at Neuerberg, Germany.
Through the courtesy of Mr. See we are permitted to publish that part of it that is of general interest. William Pugh, spoken of in the letter as being killed, was a barber who was reared near Success, his mother living near that place at the present time.

Dear Frank-Received your letter yesterday and it was the first mail I have received since Nov. 1st. Do you remember Bill Pugh who worked for John Dunn in the barber shop at Success? He is dead. He was in Co. E, 354 Inf., in my battalion, and was killed by a shell. The shell exploded so close to him that he was killed by the concussion as the skin was not even broken. We were togther most of the time after leaving Funston and his getting killed broke me all up as he was a good comrade. We had a hot time for two or three months and we were going over the top when poor Bill got his. I think I may be in the states in about six weeks if nothing happens- and I hope nothing happens. I have a big, fat feather bed to sleep on and a German's house to sleep in. They are good to us now- you see it does people good to get a trimming now and then. I have had several in my life and that's what makes me so good.
Love to all-your friend
Charlie Pace
