Mrs. Jack
Rush. (Sarah E.F. Hinton)
News reached the city yesterday morning that Mrs. Jack
Rush of Amity was killed while getting off the train in Texarkana Tuesday night. She came to town yesterday with her husband and left here on No. 7 Tuesday afternoon for Texarkana for a visit with two sons there. As the train pulled into the yards at Texarkana, the porter called out the name of the place and when the train stopped Mrs. Rush naturally thought she had reached destination and proceeded to get off. The train had stopped before it reached the station and when it started again to pull into the station, the lady was thrown off with her baby in her arms and was killed instantly. Mrs. Rush was born and raised at Amity. Mr. Rush has been trading here for years and has many friends who sympathize with him in this sudden bereavement. We understand the child, about 5 years old, was badly injured and is now in the hospital in Texarkana. (10-19-1905 p3c6)
