Clark County Cemetery Records

Are there published books of Clark County cemetery records? The last record I have found for my ancestor, ELIZABETH KEENE (JONES) BISHOP, was in the 1860 census of Clark Co., AR. At that time she was 90 years old and living in Caddo Township in the home of M.H. (Mortimer H.) SMITH and his wife Lucy BISHOP SMITH. Lucy was Elizabeth's granddaughter. Since I have not been able to find Elizabeth BISHOP in any later records, and given her advanced years in 1860, I am thinking she may have died and been buried in Clark County.

If anyone has access to cemetery or burial records, I would really appreciate your help. Thanks. Betty

There is a Clark County Cemetery Record Book that was printed in 1983. Your Elizabeth Keene Bishop is not listed. I do not find M.H. and Lucy Biship Smith listed in the book. Maybe Elizabeth is buried in an unmarked grave.
I do not find her in obituaries and death notices.

Wanda,
I read your post regarding the Clark County Cemetery records book. Do you have this book? If so, would you be willing to do a lookup for me on some "missing" family members? They lived in and around Amity for many years (about 1870-1930). Thank you!

Wanda, thanks for trying. I do appreciate your effort. I'll just have to keep searching for Elizabeth elsewhere.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I teach full time and am going to night school. Time's a bit limited. Here are the people I am missing in Clark County:

Rebecca Henton/Hinton 1821-abt 1909
Sarah Henton Rush
Andrew Jackson Rush
Rebecca Thompson 1829-abt 1880

There are more but I have to get to class now and don't have time to look for them. Thanks for the offer of help.

Clark County, Arkansas Obituaries and Death Notices
1901-1913. Obituaries from Southern Standard Newspaper, Volume 2
Mrs. Jack Rush. (Sarah E.F. Hinton) News reached the city yesterday morning that Mrs. Jack Rush of Amity was killed while getting off the train in Texarkana Tuesday night. She came to town yesterday with her husband and left here on No. 7 Tuesday afternoon for Texarkana for a visit with two sons there. As the train pulled into the yards at Texarkana, the porter called out the name of the place and when the train stopped Mrs. Rush naturally thought she had reached destination and proceeded to get off. The train had stopped before it reached the station and when it started again to pull into the station, the lady was thrown off with her baby in her arms and was killed instantly. Mrs. Rush was born and raised at Amity. Mr. Rush has been trading here for years and has many friends who sympathize with him in this sudden bereavement. We understand the child, about 5 years old, was badly injured and is now in the hospital in Texarkana. (10-19-1905 p3c6)

Wanda-

Thank you SO much for the information!! I had no idea of what had happened to Sarah Hinton. Was there any additional information on the child that was injured? I suppose that I will need to look elsewhere for Rebecca. Thank you again for your help in looking up this family. I really appreciate it!!

Cindy

No, there was no additional information on the child. I looked through all my Clark County books and found nothing on Rebecca.
