The name of Spencer Jarnigan Morris' third wife was Nellie Rutherford. They were married in 1903 in Fayetteville AR and immediately returned to Eufaula, OK where it was announced in the Muskogee newspaper. I have been unable to find the death information on Nellie, but she obviously did not live long, as Spencer remarried for the fourth time to Lena Wilson, also of Arkansas,in 1905. Nellie, only 24 when she married is suspected to have died in childbirth, along with their child. Lena outlived Spencer.

Donna,

I found this online transcribed from The biographical record of Livingston County, Illinois.

"Henry B. Meek, the father of subject, grew to manhood in Kentucky, and when a young man moved to Jennings county, Indiana, where he was united in marriage with Miss Parthenia A. Perry, who was born near Knoxville, Tennessee, and a daughter of Ransom Perry, who moved from Tennessee to that country in an early day. The family was originally from North Carolina. While residing in Tennessee, Ransom Perry took an active part in public affairs, serving as probate judge, and also in other official positions. Loving his country, he served as a soldier in the war of 1812.
From Indiana he later moved to Missouri, locating near Carthage, Jasper county, where
he died about 1857."

Ransom and Drucilla Perry

Seeking death date and burial place for Ransom Perry, born North Carolina, 1784; living Carroll Co., AR, at least as late as Nov. 15, 1854, when he bought land (SW/SE 2-18-23). He was listed on 1850 census with his (4th) wife, Drucilla--they were enumerated as BERRY, an error in this case. He had been quite prominent in Bartholomew Co., IN, with many children, most of whom stayed in Indiana. The descendants went so far as to erect a substantial monument in the City Cemetery, for Ransom Perry and other family members; but it is very unlikely he was actually buried there. Interested to know what resources are available in Carroll Co., such as probate indexes, countywide cemetery indexes, newspaper obits, etc. Ransom Perry is one of our persistent mysteries, but bounty land data from Natl Archives (and glorecords) is the best lead we've had in ages!

Hi, wow that is something. My family is the Hayhurst, Cole, Jennings. The Cannafax comes from my gr gr grandmother Mary Ann Cole/Cannafax. Like I said her husband Thomas Cole I can't find anything on. She ran away from him when my gr grandfather was 2. They went from Missouri to Arkansas, and she resumed her maiden name Cannafax. I have found a lot on her, but nothing on Thomas. I have been working on this for a very long time and am frustrated that I can't find the info on him.

After the death of her 1st husband my gr gr grandmother Mary Jane Scott Lanter married William Mendenhall (b. 1825) in Berryville 14 Jul 1894. He died shortly after possibly in Eureka Springs and Mary Jane is listed as a widow in Berryville 1900 census. After that I can not find any sign of her.

Also, Mary Janes daughter Margaret L. "Maggie" (b. 1858) first married George Camp (abt. 1832 - 1882), a Berryville general store owner and then to T B, possibly F B, Moon (b. abt 1855) on 5 Apr 1883. This family has also been a dead end in the research.

Any help or guidance on either of these disappearing family members would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Dan
Thanks. That is interesting.

I saw the listing for those three graves on findagrave. I'll add that the son "Losson Dee Gribble", according to his WW I draft application, was born April 12, 1888.

Losson (Lossie) was married twice. Once to Donna P. Thornhill before 1917 (he's in the 1920 census of Kansas City, MO. with her), then he married Tina about 1920 or 1921, maybe in MO. I have no marriage records to give the dates, nor Tina's maiden surname. Ancestry.com does list the 1st marriage date to Donna, but I have no subscription. Do you know if Donna or Tina is buried there. Tina's maiden name and marriage?

Seems from the censuses that Lossie had no children, and that whole line ends with him. Correct?

Thanks for your help.

George Lee Gribble is buried in the Glenwood Cemetery in Green Forest, Ark along with his wife Alta Myra and son L. D. Gribble. The son was born in 1888 and died 1940.
We own the property that Mr Gribble had in green forest. I was told that he got out every day and picked up the rocks off the place. Our garden has no rocks and the rest of the place is almost free of rocks. I can remember him driving a wagon to town when I was a small child.
I'm not kin to the whole Gribble clan in Warren Co., TN, but to a lot of them. I had not looked far enough into George Gribble's uncles, but sure enough he had an uncle Jeremiah Gribble. The George in Warren Co., TN was son of a John Thomas Gribble.

There are too many coincidences here including the right birth year for George in AR, as well as born in TN. His father, John Thomas Gribble stayed in Warren Co., TN.

It would be well worth risking the cost of a death cert. Thanks for the guidance.

I am not related but have an interest in Carroll County research. Here are a few pieces of information that seem to add to the possibility that the George L. Gribble in Carroll County is the one from Warren County TN.

In early Arkansas land patent entries for Gribble are these entries:

1903, George L. Gribble, Carroll County, 018N - 023W

1894, heirs of Jeremiah M. Gribble (deceased) Carroll County, 018N - 023W,
(heirs not named)

Here is the link to Land Patents:

http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/search/default.aspx#searchTabI...

Rootswebs World Connect Search Family Trees has an entry that shows Jeremiah M. Gribble and John Thomas Gribble to be brothers. Maybe George L. moved west with an uncle.

I did find two descendants of Jeremiah M. Gribble in Carroll Co. AR. His youngest son, Marian F. “Frank” Gribble, and his daughter, Martha J. Gribble. Frank married twice in Carroll Co, in 1900 using the name Frank Gribble, and in 1908 using his initials, M. F. Gribble. Martha married B. F. Usrey, in Carroll Co., I think in 1888. It appears her husband’s name was probably Benjamin Franklin Usrey for he is also shown as Frank. Frank Gribble is buried in Harrison, Boone Co. Martha and her husband are buried in Gobbler Cemetery in Carroll Co.

The death index for Carroll Co. AR shows the full name George L. to be George Leander Gribble.

If enough information can be found to tie George Leander Gribble back to Warren Co., TN, it might be worthwhile to send for his death certificate. However, death certificates can be disappointing if the informant did not know the names of the parents.
George L. Gribble appears in Carroll Co., AR first in an 1885 marriage record to Alta Myra Doty. In the 1900 census and later he is listed as TN TN TN. I am trying to trace a "George L. Gribble" forward toward the present, b. in Warren Co., TN about that same date, being the son of John Thomas "Curl" Gribble and Mary Rowland. George was last in their household in 1880 in Warren Co., TN, and not found in TN afterwards. Several of his other siblings seemingly headed west at that time to various locations.

Any help appreciated. I just simply need proof of the parents of the one in AR.
Hi you seem to know about Mary Ann Cannafax. She is my great great grandmother. I have doing my mother's side of the family. I found out that Thomas and Mary Ann were the parents of Charles Marion Cole. He had a daughter Zora Belle Cole, who is my grandmother. I would like to know any information on Mary Ann that you can give me, like date of birth, date of death, where she was born her parents...etc. Thank you for any help that you can give.

I looked again at the marriage BRANICK-JACKSON certificate and see that Louis CHASE & Magie AUSTIN were both witnesses at Jacob & Josie (BRANICK) JACKSON’s marriage in 1887. (From your research I see Margaret and Louis also married in 1887 in McDonald Co.)
Henry CHASE b. 1879 was a border with Jacob & Josie’s family in 1900 McDonald Co., Anderson Twp, MO

See photos at: http://www.angelfire.com/wi/wildventures/jacksonlasiter/jack... - Certificate and possible photo of Jacob/Jake with ?CHASE.

WOW! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! A lot of great information! It will take me a bit to digest it. You found a lot of info that I didn't know. I figured there must be a link somewhere with the CHASE family as Louis CHASE was a witness at Jacob & Josie (BRANICK) JACKSON’s marriage (s/o John & Tempy Ann (CLEPPER) JACKSON).
Henry CHASE b. 1879 was a border with Jacob & Josie’s family in 1900 McDonald Co., Anderson Twp, MO. BUZZARD has been challenging to search with the spelling variations. Your help is so appreciated :-)
Williams, one of the Judges of the Circuit Court of law and Equity in and for said State
now sitting for said County, at the Courthouse in Jasper, Churchwell Jackson, a resident citizen in said
County and State, aged 75 years, on the 15th day of last February: who being first duly sworn according
to law, doth, on his Oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of
Congress, passed June 7th, 1832. That he entered the service of the United States under the following
named Officers and served as herein stated: first, that he volunteered as a private to perform a five
months tour of duty on the __ [blank in original] day of May 1780, under Captain Robert Smith,
Lieutenant John Hardin and the Ensign Philip Hogan, in the Regiment commanded by Colonel Joseph
McDowell and Major Joseph White. That he served under said officers until the__ [blank in original]
day of October 1780 when he was discharged from the service having served five months, the term for
which he volunteered. That when he entered the service he lived in Burke County in the State of North
Carolina. This applicant states that the Regiment to which he belonged served mostly as a guard to the
frontiers, until early in the month of September 1780, at which time they were marched to King's
Mountain in the State of South Carolina, with a view to assist in dislodging the enemy there stationed
under the Command of Colonel Ferguson [sic, Major Patrick Ferguson], but, who did not arrive there
until the day after the Battle had been fought. That they then joined the American Army commanded
by Colonels Campbell [William Campbell], Cleveland [Benjamin Cleveland], Shelby [Isaac Shelby],
Sevier [John Sevier], Clark [sic, Elijah Clarke] and Williams [James Williams], the only officers except
those of his own Regiment that this applicant has any recollection of. That this applicant, with a part of
Colonel McDowell's Regiment was then detached to guard the captured enemy, whom they guarded to
the Moravian Town in the State of North Carolina and from there this applicant returned home to
Burke County N. C. where he was discharged – that he was not in any Battle during said service.
This applicant states that in the month of July 1781, in Burke County in the State of North
Carolina, he again volunteered as a private to serve a tour of four months under the same officers, to
wit, Captain Robert Smith, Lieutenant John Hardin and Ensign Philip Hogan in the Regiment
commanded by Colonel Joseph McDowell and Major Joseph White, that he continued in the service
under said officers until some time in the month of November 1781, when he was discharged, that he
was not in any Battle during this term of service. That from Burke County N. C. this applicant was
marched under said officers to the Head of Catawba River, where the Regiment was stationed about
three months at Davidson's Fort to guard the frontiers and from there they were marched to Gilbert
Town in the State of North Carolina, where they captured a few Tories, but had no general engagement,
that they remained stationed at Gilbert Town about three weeks and returned home to Burke County N.
C. when this applicant was discharged.
This applicant states that in the month of December 1781, in Burke County N. C. he again
volunteered as a private in a Company commanded by Captain William Sumpter, Lieutenant John
Sumpter (the Ensign's name he has forgotten) to suppress the Tories in the country where he lived; that
there was no term of service specified when he volunteered, that he served said officers about one
month, and was in several skirmishing expeditions after the Tories, but was in no engagement, nor was
he with or under any other than his Company officers, nor did he ever receive a discharge from said
service. This applicant states that he was not with any regular troops, nor was he with any officers only
those of his own Regiment except those at King's Mountain already named. This applicant states that
he has no documentary evidence of his services, and that he knows of no person, whose testimony he
can procure, who can testify to his services. --That he was born in Orange County in the State of
Virginia, on the 15th day of February 1758. -- That he has no Record of his age at this time, that his
Bible which contained it, was, some years ago, Burnt with his house, but he still retains recollection of
his age. -- That he was living in Burke County in the State of North Carolina when he was called into
service each time. That from Burke County N. C. (where he lived during the War) he removed to
Jefferson County, Tennessee, where he lived two years, from thence he removed to Anderson County,
Tennessee where he lived about 30 years, and from there he removed to Marion County Tennessee
where he now lives. -- That he volunteered to serve each Tour of duty and was never a substitute. --
That he cannot recite the names of any Regular officers, having never served with such troops, nor was
he with any Militia troops only those of his own Regiment except those at King's Mountain – that he
has already given the names of such of the officers as he can recollect, who commanded there. -- That
he was regularly discharged from the first two tours of duty by Colonel Joseph McDowell, and that his
discharges were burned with his house.
This applicant states that he is acquainted with and refers to the following gentleman of his
neighborhood, to wit, General William Stone, Richard W. Stone, Revd Isaac Easterly, William
Marcurn, Ephraim Thurman, John Burnett, Esq., Samuel H. Gott Esq. and Isaac Hicks, Esq. some of
whom can testify as to his character for veracity, and their belief of his services as a soldier of the
Revolution. -- He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present,
and declares that his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any State.
Sworn to and subscribed the day and year aforesaid.
S/ Churchill Jackson, X his mark
S/ Wm Standefer, Clerk

Name: Churchwell Jackson
Company: 5 REG'T (BOOTH'S) EAST TENNESSEE MILITIA.
Rank - Induction: PRIVATE
Rank - Discharge: PRIVATE
Roll Box: 109
Microfilm Publication: M602
War of 1812

Soldier: Churchwell Jackson
Widow: Mary Ann Jackson
Pension Number - #1: SC 11435
Pension Number - #2: SC 11435
Pension Number - #3: WO 38112
Pension Number - #4: WC 28819
Roll Number: 50
Archive Publication Number: M313
War of 1812 Pension Application Files Index 1812 - 1815
