The Arkansas marriage records show he married Elizabeth Jane Rames on 30 Jul 1856 in Union County, Arkansas. (El Dorado is the county seat.) A family tree record on Ancestry.com shows him married to Elizabeth Jane Barnes on that same date. My guess is that a census taker's handwritten notes were mistakenly read as Barnes instead of Rames. Of course it is possible (but less likely) that the issuer of the marriage license misunderstood and wrote Rames instead of Barnes. However, in that case, you would think the couple would have noticed and corrected that mistake.
