Junior Lay

Junior Lay, 31, of Longview, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Longview.

He was a native of Warren, a resident of the Longview community outside of Fountain Hill for the past 2 and a half years and he was a former resident of Hamburg.

He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1987, and was the maintenance supervisor of Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Crossett.

He was a member of the Meeks Hunting Club, the Ashley County and Drew County Bow Hunter's Association, a member of the Victory Christian Fellowship and a member of the Woodmen of the World.

Survivors include is wife, Ashley Elton Lay, a son, Regan Hunter Lay, his mother, Sonja McGauhey and stepfather, Raymond, all of Longview; his father, Ninuel G. Lay, Sr. and stepmother, Sandy, of Tenaha, TX; a step brother, Todd Davis of Romance, AR; a half-brother, Cody Lay of Tenaha, TX; four step-sisters, Jeanette Smith and Ramona Standridge, both of North Little Rock; Tiffany Jones of Tenaha, TX and Roxann Prior of Romance, AR and his maternal grandparents, Charles and Ester Copeland of Star City.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at the First Baptist Church in Hamburg with Rev. David Markham officiating. Burial was in the Hamburg Cemetery by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Pallbearers were Chuck and Brian Copeland, Benji Price, Chad and Bear Holleman and Tracey Graham.

Honorary pallbearers were Cody Lay, members of the Meeks Hunting Club; Dickie and Larry Meeks, Willard Procell, Wayne Watkins, Jerry and Rambo Spratt, Larry Woods, Bruce Stafford, Danny Hill, Jeff Baker, Bill Shrigley, and Michael Elton.

Memorial may be made to the Woodmen of the World Arkansas State Youth Camp, c/o Micky Cartner, 5601 JFK Blvd, Suite 201, North Little Rock, AR 72116, or to the Hamburg Rescue Unit, c/o Mrs. Doris Huffman, V.
