I HAVE FOUND A DEATH MEMORIAL FOR JOSIAH HENNINGER BURROWS ON FIND A GRAVE. HE WAS BORN JAN. 1, 1825 AND DIED FEB. 19, 1889. THE FAMILY LINKS SHOW HIS CHILDREN ARE LAURA B. RITTER (1872-1930). HE IS BURIED AT THE HORNET CEMETERY, HORNET, NEWTON COUNTY, MISSOURI, USA. IT SHOWS HIS WIFE AS FOLLOWS: ELIZABETH (MISER), ELIZABETH (CAVINESS) AND MAHALA (MISER).
I KNOW THAT IN PEA RIDGE, ARKANSAS THERE ARE MANY FAMILIES OF MISER AT THE BUTTRAM CHAPEL CEMETERY. MY SECOND COUSIN'S MOTHER WAS A BUTTRAM AS WELL AS MY GREAT AUNT ETTA HOWARD. HE FATHER WAS A BUTTRAM. I KNOW THE MISERS AND BUTTRAMS WERE KIN, BUT THE ONLY NOTE I HAVE IS THAT A NANCY ELIZABETH MISER WAS MARRIED TO ELIJAH HENEGER BUTTRAM.
HOPE THIS HELPS SOME.....CHARLES RAUCH

SHE DIED JANUARY 4, 1952 AND MY BIRTHDAY IS APRIL 19, 1949, SO I WAS ONLY ABOUT THREE YEARS OF AGE WHEN SHE PASSED. IF YOU GOOGLE FOR J.M. J.M., OR JOSEPH MARTIN PUTMAN IS MY STEP-GRANDFATHER AND WAS MARRIED TO MY GRANDMOTHER LYNN, AND LYNN HOWARD IS THE DAUGHTER OF TINE. LYNN WAS FIRST MARRIED TO WILLIAM SAMPSON ROBBINS WHO DIED IN 1931 AND WAS MY MOTHER'S FATHER. MY MOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME WAS EVELYN PEARL ROBBINS. HER MIDDLE NAME IS FROM PEARL HOWARD, MY GRANDMOTHER'S SISTER. MY SISTERS AND BROTHERS ARE: ALVIS LANE BRUMMETT (b. 1942 and MERLA LYNN (BRUMMETT) b.1942. THEIR FATHER WAS MY MOTHER'S FIRST HUSBAND MERL ALVIS BRUMMETT. AND MARRIED TO DEBATHA A.(DOES NOT GIVE MAIDEN NAME) WHO WAS AGE 47. BOTH SHOW TO BE BORN IN NORTH CAROLINA AND HE WAS A FARMER. IN 1880, THEY LIVED IN DISTRICT 20, RUTHERFORD, TENNESSEE.
THEIR CHILDREN WERE: WILLIAM AGE 30
NELLEY 26
ANDREW 25
EMMERSON J. 21
THOMAS R. 19
IDELLAR 17
JOSEPH 14
ALICE G. 10
GEORGE MCCLANAHAN 9
ANNA 8
DARTHULA 6

MY RECORDS ARE SHOWING THAT MARY WOODFIN WAS BORN 1798 IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA AND DIED IN 1867 IN FOSTERVILLE, TENNESSEE.
DEAR CHRISTINE:
MY NAME IS CHARLES RAUCH, AND WILLIAM MARTIN EDWARDS WAS MY G.G.GRANDFATHER. I LIVE IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA. WHEN I WAS AGE ONE THRU TEN, WE LIVED AT THE "OLD TINE AND WILSON LEE HOWARD HOMESTEAD" IN BELLA VISTA, ARKANSAS.
FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND, WILLIAM MARTIN EDWARDS WAS MARRIED TO CAROLINE CHARLES BULLOCK. MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER, HOWEVER, INDICATED HER NAME WAS "MARGARET BULLOCK" AS SHOW ON MY GRANDMOTHERS DEATH CERTIFICATE, OF WHICH I HAVE A COPY SHE DIED ON JANUARY 4, 1952 IN ANDERSON, MISSOURI. ALL OTHER RECORDS ARE COMING UP AS CAROLINE CHARLES BULLOCK. THEY ARE BOTH BURIED AT THE OAKLEY CHAPEL CEMETERY IN ROGERS, ARKANSAS. THE BULLOCK FAMILY WAS FROM GRANVILLE, NORTH CAROLINE BEFORE MOVING TO RUTHERFORD COUNTY TENNESSEE. YOUR DATE OF 1810 IS PROBABLY ABOUT RIGHT. MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER WAS LUVENIA PALESTINE "TINE" (EDWARDS) HOWARD (DUG HILL CEMETERY-BELLA VISTA, AR.) AND WAS BORN IN BEDFORD COUNTY, TENNESSEE AND THEN THE FAMILY MOVED TO WHAT IS NOW BELLA VISTA, ARKANSAS. HER SISTER WAS ADALINE (EDWARDS) HOWARD (RICKETTS CEMETERY) AND BOTH WERE MARRIED TO WILSON LEE HOWARD (RICKETTS CEMETERY, BENTONVILLE, AR.)
ADALINE DIED IN 1880, WE BELIEVE SHORTLY AFTER HAVING COMPLICATIONS OF GIVING BIRTH TO THEIR THIRD CHILD. THIS WAS RELATED TO ME BY KATHLEEN (CASH) REDDICK. THE CHILDREN OF ADALINE AND WILSON LEE WERE MELVIN, PORT AND ARTHUR HOWARD. WILSON LEE THEN MARRIED "TINE" AND THEY HAD CHILDREN: MATILDA ANN LYNN "LENA" (HOWARD){ROBBINS,PUTMAN}(BENTONVILLE CEMETERY), WHO WAS MY GRANDMOTHER, SON PERRY HOWARD AND HIS WIFE HAZEL, WHO LIVED IN LYONS, KANSAS FOR YEARS AND ARE NOW BOTH DECEASED, CHARLES MANSFIELD "MANCE" HOWARD, & WIFE ETTA (BUTTRAM) HOWARD, (BOTH BURIED AT THE BUTTRAM CHAPEL CEMETERY, PEA RIDGE), PEARL HOWARD (DUG HILL CEMETERY), AND AUGUSTUS "GUS" HOWARD (DUG HILL CEMETERY).
THE CHILDREN OF MARTIN AND CAROLINE CHARLES BULLOCK OR MARGARET BULLOCK EDWARDS WERE: P.M. EDWARDS, M.J. EDWARDS,J.A. EDWARDS, A.M. EDWARDS, CHARLES NEWTON EDWARDS,[NOTE: ADALINE AND CHARLES WERE TWINS, BORN 1852], ANN EDWARDS, ELIZBETH CAROLINE EDWARDS, LUVENIA PALESTINE "TINE" EDWARDS AND J. EDWARDS, AND SAMUEL H. MORGAN EDWARDS (DUG HILL CEMETERY).
JAMES BRYANT CASH, WAS MARRIED TO ELIZABETH CAROLINE EDWARDS ,THE DAUGHTER OF MARTIN AND CAROLINE ELIZABETH (BULLOCK) EDWARDS AND THEIR CHILDREN WERE JAMES CHRISTOPHER "CHRIS" CASH AND HIS WIFE ELSIE BLOOMFIELD (KEENE)CASH AND LIVED IN BELLA VISTA AND NOW BURIED AT THE BENTONVILLE CEMETERY, LUTHER MARTIN CASH FLORA L. CASH AND VESTA LENNA CASH. CHRIS AND ELSIE CASH'S DAUGHTERS WERE KATHLEEN (CASH) REDDICK LIVES AT A RETIREMENT CENTER IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA AND ANOTHER SISTER DORIS DEAN (CASH) LANGER LIVES IN VINITA, OK. THEY HAVE A BROTHER TOM CASH AND SISTER HELEN MAE (CASH) CLAYTON, WHO DID IN 2005 IN TULSA, OK.
CHARLES NEWTON EDWARDS (MAR. 11,1852-NOV. 15, 1933 (PEA RIDGE CEMETERY) MARRIED MALINDA ISABEL DODSON (JULY 6, 1857-NOV. 6, 1925, PEA RIDGE CEMETERY. THEY BOTH DID DIE RATHER YOUNG.
ANDREW STRIBLIN OR STRIPLING EDWARDS WAS THE FATHER OF MARTIN EDWARDS. I DON'T HAVE ANY INFORMATION YET ON THE FATHER OF ANDREW, BUT I WILL PLUG IN INFORMATION ON ANCESTORY.COM AND SEE WHAT COMES US.
I DO NOT KNOW WHY MARTIN AND FAMILY LEFT TENNESSEE FOR ARKANSAS, BUT A LOT OF FAMILIES WERE MOVING HERE AT THAT TIME. I HAVE READ THEY CARAVANED WITH THE ALLEN FAMILY, WHO ALSO WAS AN EARLY SETTLER OF THE DUG HILL/SUGAR CREEK AREA.

IT APPEARS THAT ALL OF THE CHILDREN OF MARTIN WERE BORN IN TENNESSEE AND I DETERMINED THAT THEIR MOVE TO ARKANSAS WAS IN ABOUT 1861 OR 1862. MY GRAND MOTHER TINE WAS BORN APRIL 28, 1858. I KNOW THE CIVIL WAR WAS IN PROGRESS AND MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER TINE TOLD MY BROTHER THAT SHE WALKED BESIDE THEIR COVERED WAGON ON THEIR TREK AND THAT SHE SAW THE SOLDIERS FROM THE NORTH AND SOUTH ON THEIR PROPERTY IN ARKANSAS NEAR SUGAR CREEK, WHICH THEN WAS CALLED THE DUG HILL AREA. IN ABOUT 1931 THE AREA BECAME KNOWN AS BELLA VISTA.
I AM GLAD YOU MENTIONED THE NAME OF YOUR G-G-G-GRANDFATHER, GEORGE NEWTON EDWARDS, AS I COULD FIND NO LINK TO BROTHERS OR SISTERS ON MARTIN EDWARDS. I WILL PUT THIS NEW INFORMATION ON MY ANCESTORY.COM AND SEE WHAT COMES UP.

I HOPE THIS INFORMATION HELPS IN YOUR QUEST. YOU MIGHT ALSO CHECK ON SITE "FIND A GRAVE" WHICH IS CONNECTED WITH ANCESTORY.COM; I AVE ENTERED ABOUT 225 MEMORIALS AND HAVE TRIED TO ENTER AND REVISE INFORMATION AS I DISCOVER IT.

I HOPE TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU!......CHARLES

Hi, I was reading your message and am curious if I am on the right track, maybe you can help.. My family is the Burris's. Trying to verify Josiah is Mathews father, only have census with Mathew as 12 year old and think it is him.
Mathew Burris which has been spelled burrows, buris, burris, burroughs. you name it. So my guy is Mathew Burris born Benton,Arkansas I believe... He was Married to Jemima Reynolds in Vanburen Missouri on Oct, 13th 1872 and they moved on to Oklahoma according to the censuses. Three children, Jordon, Anna, Lela. So what do you know about Josiah. Can't seem to find census on him.
No death date, no marker. Just family rumor that he was buried in Stillwater and the marker is gone

A little more...
John P. Reynolds here is almost certainly the son of Absalom Green Reynolds.
Found Rufus Reynolds and family also in 1920 Benton County. They trace back to 1910 Humphreys County Tennessee and 1900 Dickson County Tennessee and to 1930 Clark County Kansas. In 1930 Rufus has a niece Maudie living with him who seems to correspond to John's daughter Maud -- suggesting that Rufus is John's younger brother.

Would appreciate any additional info relating to Rufus F. Reynolds and/or his wife Addie/Abigail Smith.

When Ada gave birth to my grandmother (Jessie Pollock) Ada died and Jim took the kids to live with their aunt and disappeared. Ada is buried in Arkansas, which is where, I think, this particular James Pollock died, too, but I know very little about him. Perhaps Native American??

Thank you for your help but don't think this is my Harry Bishop as it has year of birth as 1910. Harry Budd was born in 1907 and placed in children's home in 1915 by his mother after his father passed away. Alonzo Bishop adopted Harry in 1917. They are on 1920 census for Fort Smith, Sebation County, Ark.

Thank you once again for your kindness.

Sue

Thank you for your help. After all this, I am not sure this is my Bishop as this Bishop was born in 1910. My Harry N. Bishop was born in 1907 and adopted in 1917 from the Children's home in Joplin, Missouri by Alonzo Bishop. Found them on 1920 census for Sebastian County, Fort Smith, Ark. Alonzo and wife turned up on 1930 census in Indiana but have not been able to locate Harry. Harry was my father's brother and Dad passed away never knowing what happened to him. Seems I'm not going to be able to locate him either.

Thank you once again for your kindness.

Sue

I was able to find out that Rev O. A. Fortune of Bentonville is the same person who was matchmaker for my parents here in Nebraska. I'm quite sure my mom was never aware that he knew her ancestors in Arkansas. If only they had discovered that connection, I'm sure they could have shared some interesting stories.

My dad was a widower Methodist minister and my mom was lay delegate from her church to attend the Annual Conference. That is where they were introduced to each other, and the courtship by correspondence began which finally led to their marriage.

Thanks for contacting me with your information. If I had not been able to find out this is the same person before now, I would surely be glad to have the confirmation from you.
It's been awhile since you posted this, but will respond just in case you did not receive any responses.

Rev Fortune was my grandfather and indeed came from Arkansas to Hemingford, NE. He then took a congregation in Genoa, NE and eventually retired to Hemingford, where he and my grandmother are buried. There is still some family left in the area.

Let me know what else you would like to know. Glenn Fortune

I'd be glad to swap gedcom files with you ... I have nothing "real" on the LOWERY family any earlier. Have been to OK. to visit some family members. Mom (Ada Florence Moss) and I went through and arrived just in time for Uncle Eddie's funeral service. But it seems we were in such a hurry at that time, we weren't even able to collect any information from the rest of the family ... I had cousins in CO. with surname WHITE in 1964 - BUT I don't know anything about that either!
NEW EMAIL: mikejobbins@live.com
