Searching for John M Grammer last record in Hunt Co. TX 1880 Census.

In the 1870 census, I find who I THINK is my John M Grammer (15yr) living with his father John Grammer and no mother...there is also another John (17 yrs) in this listing (and many others, including Sparks)...anyone else researching this family line? Looks like two families are listed here?

How/when did the wife die? It appears she is in the 1860 census as Elizabeth...but I am uncertain.

James B. Hammons was the son of Leroy Hammons Jr and Nancy Wolf. My records don't show an Irene. In the 1860 Osage Carroll Co census she is listed as Nancy, too. In that census you find a couple of their Bryan kin in the household. James was a Bryan on his grandmother's side.
Looking for a contemporary marriage record data: date, location, spouse name for Sarah Ann Laura (Bradley) Bruner in Benton county, Arkansas or the surrounding area. I believe it took place between 1910 and 1920.

Would also like to find her first marriage record, to Eli Hickman Bruner, between 1879 and 1883. Bruner died in 1899.

S. A. Laura Bradley was born in 1860 to Samuel Carle Bradley and Mary Elizabeth (Baker) Bradley, and was found in the 1910 census living with her parents, Samuel C. and Mary E. Bradley, in Hico township, Benton county, Arkansas. They were Quakers associated with the Lone Elm Community. Her older sister, Tennessee Jane "Tennie" Bradley was my great-grandmother, married to Charles Monroe Cravens.

Hi! I would be glad to share what info i have, and would love to share any pictures.

Sarah Ellen Payne Vandagriff---- i have born 24 Oct 1875- Storm Kentucky
married to James Franklin Vandagriff born 10 Aug 1872 Arkansas died 24 Jan 1950 Texas
They had Gladys Estelle Vandagriff who had Ethel Dee Noble(my great grandmother)

Sarahs parents were Icy Farmer b. 1855- Kentucky and William Harrison Payne b. 1850- Tennessee
I have that William Harrison Paynes parents are Mose Payne b. 1824- North Carolina and tabitha Cumi Anderson b. 1855- Kentucky
And that Icy Farmers parents were Denton Farmer b. 1833 kentucky and Sylvania Herd b. 1832 - Kentucky

my grandmother has found some of this info from old bibles she has and from what her mother told her.

My grandmother, had a silent video made betwwen the 1940s and 1962, its a very confusing tape bc the man who put it together did not put it in the order of the years. But its very neat bc it has my uncle and father when they are babies and my grandmother when she was in her 20s and Gladys and Sarah ellen payne in one of the shots. There was also a funeral but its all really hard to tell who evrybody is since its silent.

I also have 2 photos you might like , one is of Ethel,Gladys, Sarah and Icy and the other is of a big family with Icy, Wiliam , James V., sarah , and Gladys, and there are 6 other people that we do not recognize but seem to be part of the family. I have them scanned into the computer.
thank you, from Texas

I am trying to locate info on one of Sterling Price Parker's daughters

Anna Laura Parker

she was born about 1902 in Hiwassee
trying to locate her exact birth date and when and where she died. I know she married Ivey Patterson 12/25/1920 in Benton County Arkansas. I found them in 1940 in Statesville, Iredell, North Carolina Ivey ,Anne , son William and daughter Helen . Is there any Parker family remaining in the area that might have info as to when and where Annie Parker Patterson died and her daughter Helen L Patterson Gregory and son William. In Iveys obit it says his daughter, Mrs Robert Gregory is living in Eufaula, Alabama and son William is in Melbourne, Austrailia, this is 2/3/ 1960, also says that Ivey's first wife,Annie Parker Patterson, died before him.
any info most appreciated

thanks Mary

Kathy, I was very interested to read your message on the Benton Co AR list that you have been able to prove back four generations before Wallis TRUE and I would really appreciate knowing how you interpret the three generations prior to his father, John TRUE. Also, do you have proof of John TRUE’s first wife who mothered his children?

I have worked on this family for more than 44 years, but I would always seem to hit a brick wall every time I tried to find the real truth. I have been to the Benton Co AR courthouse numerous times, as well as the Johnson Co IN courthouse looking for answers. I haven’t tried for several years, so you likely have discovered some information that has surfaced since then. I descend from a brother of Wallis.

My address is below for your reply. Thanks a lot.

Imogene (True) Bennett
Springfield, MO
Imogene.Bennett@att.net

After the Trues left Indiana and settled in Benton Co. Arkansas, they found themselves in a no man's land between the Union and the Confederate forces when the war broke out. The Trues, Coonfields and Hobacks and Eppersons all favored the Union and since a lot of their neighbors favored the South, it made for some tense feelings. After a big battle nearby in which the Confederates were defeated, word was gotten that northern sympathizers probably would be killed. So, Wallis True moved his family into the Union camp, which was camped in his cornfield. Then a short time later, the Trues with some of their friends were excorted to Kansas. They were settled near Lecompton, Kansas, and there one of Wallis's daughters was married and stayed. During their stay in Kansas, Wallis, joined a Kansas Volunteer company. However, after only a short time he was captured and injured. After the war, the Trues all went back to Benton Co. Ark. , where they lived out their lives and many of the descendents can be found there now. This is the history I have in my family genealogy that was handed down from my grandfather Frank Wallace True. Wallis Washington True was my gggggrandfather. I would love to talk some more to you. I have tracked us back 8 generations now. I am quite certain this is from a "True" tree in Ancestry. I am searching for it now. Unfortunately I did not document it when I initially documented this info.

Re: Haston/Hastain/Hastings

Hello I too have great interest in Martha Ann. My Grandmother is Martha Ann Davis. She came to Carroll Co. Ark from Claiborne Tnn. where the census say's she was born.
We have nothing but census as proof and oral history. We know she was born 1830 and her name was Martha Ann no maiden name.
Native American heritage has been the word, and Irish/Scott.
Martha Ann came with a 8 year old girl Minerva Hastings, on census 1860 the name was spelled out Hastings, as on a note from my Uncle who passed away in 73 at age 94; he was the keeper of the family history. He also thought the Houston name may be connected to Martha somehow.
Martha married Aaron Davis in Carroll Co. Ark. who was widowed in 58 and had 6 children with 1st wife Nancy.
Also, he had a widowed mother with him (we think it was his mother no proof) her name was Jane Davis; She arrived in Carroll Co. Ark. in 1840 and is Head of Household. It's said she moved near family but who that is? John D.Denny next door and Standleys and Plumblys were families that the children married into.
The two sons Aaron and his brother Jefferson, were named Davis. They both raised families in Carroll County and Boone County Arkansas. Jeffersons born 1821 and Aaron 1824.
Aarons first wife was named Nancy, she is buried in the Union Primitive Baptist cemetary in Berryville Ark 1858.
Jane, Jefferson and Aaron's mother? dies in 1859, Martha Ann on census with Aaron 1860.Martha Ann and Aaron go on to have several children my Great Grandmother one of them Arena Ann Davis.
I am on Ancestry with "Hancock"family trees and search Davis and Hancock my fathers mothers side is Davis and his father is Hancock, My Great Grandfather Albert Greg Hancock married Arena Ann Davis daughter of Aaron Davis and Martha Ann ? Davis. She may be a Denny as many think but, I only connected her to being a Denny by backtracking on the name of Minerva, Minerva's name was listed as Hastings on the first census we found and no last name for Martha but her husbands so we started with Minerva, and that took us to Haston, Haiston, Heighstand, Hastings all the same different spellings, but Minerva came with it spelled from the start Hastings from 1860 census. We assumed Martha Ann to be the Martha Ann Denny who Joseph Clairborn Hastings married because he is the Haston who decided to change the spelling to Hasting, at least thats what the "Daniel Haston Timeline"reports. Word on there and else where said Martha Ann had died and that was why Joseph married Emilly his cousin and took Marthas children William 6mo and Nancy age 2.to Sonoma Ca.

But we figured that saying she died was a cover for leaving her pregnant with Minerva or a small child and taking the other two children and leaving her. That they jusy told everyone she was dead. Observing the name and other circumstances; as it seemed, who else could she be showing up in Carroll Co. with an 8yr old Minerva Hastings and her name Martha Ann?
It just seemed more than coincedental. And we felt this was Martha Ann Denny.

So Perhaps My Martha is not Martha Denny after all? Perhaps she did die of this encephylitus or brain fever?? So-- here I am, hoping to present what I know... and what documents I have and receive the same and hope to learn and exchange leads. Thank you for any help and I hope I can be of help my page are public. But the players on Marthas side they are tenative, the Dennys are place holders for now. whiteottergal you can reply or message to my tree if you care to. Or Post message here. Thank you.
