Cemetery Preservation

Is the Benton County Cemetery Preservation Group still around? I used to hear from them all the time and lately have not heard anything about them.

My idea is to combine the efforts of the Benton County group with the Washington County group. I think more things would be accomplished if the groups worked together.

Also, the BCCPG used to have a website. I was wondering if it might be helpful to have a MySpace page for publicity?

Thanks

I would dearly love to have someone from the Washington Co Cemetery Preservation to contact me. I have, for a while, been trying to find someone to discuss restoring a cemetery in Washington Co. They may contact me at wfields55@hotmail.com

I am unaware that Washington County has a cemetery preservation association. Can anyone verify that such a group exists?

Thanks,
Glenn Jones

Does Benton County still have one??? There are many of us who are still interested in preserving our graveyards in both counties, but without all the politics.

If there is still an Benton County group, please let me know.

Thanks,

Mike

Hello, Mike I read that the Benton County Cemetery Preservation group is no more. I wonder what happened to the money left in a fund for the preservation of the Old Robbins (Derrick) Cemetery by some of our family members. I no longer live in AR and soon after I moved 4 years ago a cousin from a nearby state went by and the cemetery was in the same unkept condition it was before anything was done. This makes me both angry and sad.

The Benton County Cemetery Preservation Group has been inactive for nearly two years. Why? Lack of participation.

I have no idea what happened to the funds that were there when it was decided they were no more. I suppose they were absorbed into whatever it is that they were absorbed into.

Personally, I would be interested in forming a new group. However, I have heard through the grapevine that such a group is already in the making. If I hear anything, I will definitely let everyone know.

Nice hearing from you Velda. It has been awhile.

Hi Glen,

Do you know what happened to the funds that were in the account when they decided to call it quits?

Nice to see you involved in the preservation of the history of Benton County.

What all does that entail? I know of a historical school which is incorporated into a home and I would like to see that school preserved somehow. As far as I know the owner died and perhaps someone else is the owner now. The last time I was by there, nobody occupied the home.

Mike

Glenn, I know you and Cassie did so much within the group and for that I'm grateful. Living 150 miles away at the time made it hard for me to do as much as I would have liked. I'm living now in Colorado. If you ever want to contact me concerning cemeteries there or anything concerning any of my family histories, please feel free to do so through my email.

This goes for you as well, Mike.....after all we're almost cousins!
