James Absolom Gooden's widowed mother married Jimmie Graves, probably in the 1860's. James Absolom, known as Ab, was born in Baxter County in 1858. Jimmie also had a son named Billy. At one time the Gooden/Graves family lived in the lower Pidgeon Creek area near the Big North Fork. Does anyone know James Absolom's mother's first name? One source names his father as Harvey Gooden, but I can't find any information on him. The Goodens are believed to have come to Baxter County from northern Georgia. Can anyone help?
