Lois Campbell Simmons
Lois Elizabeth Campbell Simmons, 76, of North Little Rock, died on Thursday, August 14, 2003, after a long and valiant struggle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born in HAMBURG on May 16, 1927, descended from pioneer families who settled Ashley County in the early 1800s. Her parents were the late Wesley Clifton Campbell and Adeline Zeke JOHNSON.
Lois graduated from HAMBURG High School in 1945 and was voted "most likely to succeed." She attended Arkansas A & M in Monticello for two years and graduated in 1949 from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway with a B.S. in Education. She attended graduate school at Northeastern University in Tahlequah, OK, in the late 1960s. She taught English for fifteen years at Fourth Street Junior High and Ridgeroad Junior High in North Little Rock and West Junior High in Muskogee, OK. She had a passion for teaching which endured throughout her life.
She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock and a member of the Triune Class. Her interests included history, genealogy, poetry, literature, quilting, button collecting and nature outings with family and friends. She was the family archivist.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Harold Simmons of North Little Rock; her son, Michael Campbell Simmons of North Little Rock, a daughter Jennifer Louise Simmons, son-in-law Michael A. Dunn and granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Dunn, all of Houston, TX, and daughter Janice Ann Simmons of North Little Rock; a sister, Julia Louise Tyson of Hamburg; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bruin Louis Campbell.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, in the First United Methodist Church, 6701 J. F. K. Blvd., North Little Rock. Burial was to follow services at 4:30 p m. at the HAMBURG Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Triune Class at First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock.

The memorial service for Ida Ann Campbell VEAZEY, 81, of HAMBURG will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, HAMBURG, with the Rev. David A. Moore officiating. A private burial will be in the HAMBURG Cemetery, under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home, HAMBURG.
Born in HAMBURG, Mrs. Veazey lived there all her life.
After graduation from HAMBURG High School, she attended Touro School of Nursing in New Orleans. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church having served as choir director and organist for many years.
She died Feb. 21 at home.
Her husbands, Billy VEAZEY and Bruin Campbell, preceded in death.
Survivors include three sons, Louis Campbell of Fayetteville, Stanton VEAZEY of HAMBURG and Howard VEAZEY of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Susanne Hall of North Little Rock and Jane Ellen Evans of Metairie, La.; two brothers, James S. ?Bubba? Nolley of Crossett and the Rev. Don Nolley of North Little Rock; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Annie Pryor Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church in HAMBURG.
